Default 2013 xD tires 195/R6016

I got my 2013 xD last Sept. and getting ready to get new tires and was wondering what people recommended.

I live in KY near the TN border. Looking for economical comfort tires

There are very few tires available in the stock xD size, 195/60/16. You only have a choice of about 6 or 7 tires and 3 of them are ice/snow tires. I also have a 2013 xD. Bought it last Sept. as a certified used. The dealer had slapped new Kumho Esta PA31 tires on it in that size. I'm not in love with them, but they're probably a better tire than the factory mounted Bridgestones. The Kumho Esta is one of the cheapest. Good in rain and dry. Not impressive in snow, but better than some all season tires that I have had.

The xD only has a 6 inch width wheel. You could go to a "plus one" size, 205/55/16. Very close to the stock diameter. Then you have endless choices, as that has been a popular size for 20 years. The 6 inch wheel could handle that size, but that would be the limit. I really like the General RT43 touring tire in that size. I have them on my xB2 and had them on another ride. They do everything well and are one of the best all seasons in snow and good in handling. The sidewalls are a little soft, but they smooth out the ride. They always get great reviews and smoked others in comparison tests.

I would second the General touring tire in 205/55 R16 size. I have a set of them, and they ride well, handle well, and don't make a lot of noise.

Thanks again for the advice I went ahead and used the 195/60/R16 size and bought the Yokohama Avid Ascend. What I do find interesting is that the previous owner had put on 195/55/R16.
