Question Original tires finally going out... suggestions?

I have a 2009 xD with 35,000 miles. My tires are wearing really low and it is time to change.

Do you suggest Pirelli or Goodyear? I am leaning toward the 205/55-16.

Comfort. I'm not a racer, I'm a saver. I value quality, especially when it comes to safety. Don't really need to be excessive, though. Hope that makes sense.

Then I recommend the Michelin HydroEdge, excellent comfort while awesome wet weather traction. The tire comes with a 90K warranty and if you take care of them expect to see 100K plus out of these tires.

I can't agree.. Michelin makes a great tire.. but I wouldnt want one that lasts that long.. They are going to be hard.. which is why they last so long..
In a small lightweight car like the xD.. you want a tire with some give..
One that won't be hard and amplify every bump and rough surface..
I would go with something more conventional that will give you 40 - 50K wear and still be compliant enough for a nice ride.. Look around .. there are plenty of good choices..

My xD is getting new tires installed now. Looking for a tire with less road noise and a good warranty. So I'm getting Bridgestone Turanza with Serenity technology 205/55 R16 91H hope they work out for me. The size change will make the speedo 1mph less indicated and alter the odometer

Thread is fairly hard but the sidewalls do a pretty good job of absorbing energy since they are so soft (the tires are usually T rated). I know most Michelin tires are covered under a 30 day try and buy kinda thing so if you do not like them they can be returned and you avoid a restocking fee.

They are not made in the stock 195/60/16 size and the closest size I know of is 205/55/16. 215/55/16 and 225/50/16 will also fit but they are performance sizes so I'm not sure if the Hydroedges are made in that size.

i also have (extensively) shopped 205/55/16s. here is my go to list, based on budget and performance (prices are from various online sources). don't need any snow tires:

TIRE/PRICE/WEIGHT IN LBS
*Conti DW $106, 19
*Ventus v12 $89, 19
Proxes 4 $112, 20
*conti DWS $110, 21
Yoko AD08 $140, 21
Ziex 512 $? , 21
Pilot Exalto PE2 $150, 21
Toyo T1R $165, 21.9
BStone RE760 $112, 22
Yoko S.Drive $95, 23
Dunlop Starspec $114, 24
FK452 $110, 24

* = My faves/ the ones i will most likely purchase in the future.

I read over tire reviews often for owner tips and impressions. some like the conti's require added PSI for better turning performance, for ie.
