Original tires finally going out... suggestions?

I bought some new Pirelli Cinturato P7 All-Season Plus tires yesterday in size 215/55/16. I had no choice as one of the Yokohama's became increasingly unstable. It turns out it may have had a shifting belt, or something. I did a freeway run to Garden Grove and was extremely impressed with the P7 Plus'. The 215/55 look perfect on the XD. I want to give a shout out to Discount Tire on Melrose Drive in Vista, CA. The level of service there was second to none. They are awesome people.

I will try to get some pictures posted in the next few days. I think the 215/55/16 is perfect looking on the XD. It is a little taller than OEM 195/60 (25.5" vs 25.2"), and definately wider. It looks sooooo good, especially with a 38 offset wheel like mine. Most 215/55/16's are 25.3" diameter, but the Pirelli P7 Plus is 25.5".
*Edit:I added pictures in the "Running 215/55/16?" thread.

My initial impressions of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 Plus, based on about 400 miles is really positive. They are especially comfortable over potholes, and railroad tracks perhaps because of the taller sidewall than previous tires. I really like the steering response and cornering capabilities. I am glad I went with 215/55/16, I will stick with this size for the XD.
EDIT: 16x7" wheels
38 offset

After a few more weeks of driving on the Pirelli P7 Plus’, I know this is a perfect fit for my Scion, and my driving style. The P7 Plus is all about comfort. And a vehicle with a short wheel base like this needs a little help to smooth things out. The car no longer crashes into potholes, steep driveways, or speed bumps; rather it drifts over them now. Cruising the highways on the new Pirelli is simply brilliant: luxury and sportiness combined. The tires are inflated to 35 psi all around, and I think this allows for such handling prowess, and the plush ride. As happy as I was to take off the OEM tires shortly after buying the XD, and trying out some different tires; the P7’s are so much better than any other. I have hand calculated a loss of less than one mile per gallon in city driving. A very small loss in economy, for such a huge gain in comfort. I recently called Discount Tire to thank them for the recommendation on using a 215/55, and going with the new Pirelli Cinturato P7 All-Season Plus.

Sorry to threadjack but why not keep the tire opinions going right?
Time to replace the tires on my 08, gonna stick with stock 195/60-16.
These are going to be used "all seasons", we get snow a few months out of the year here in the Mid-Atlantic, but I'm more concerned with road noise.
Here's what tirerack has to offer... All roughly $100 a pop except the Dunlop runs a buck fifty. What should I get?
Hankook Optimo H426
Yokohama AVID Ascend
Dunlop SP Sport 5000
Bridgestone Turanza EL400-02
Bridgestone Blizzak WS60
Pirelli Winter Sottozero

The reviewer gives high marks for the Yokohama in most categories, including winter traction. I only have personal experience with the Dunlop SP Sport 500, and I would never recommend the Dunlop's. The SP500 is harsh riding, has poor wet weather traction, and did not track well on the highway.

Thanks XDC for the recommendation on the Pirelli P7 Plus! My wife got a set of Sparco 16x7" wheels for her 2012 xD earlier this year and (although a little narrow for a 7" wheel) we kept the stock Dunlops... BIG MISTAKE. The road noise is almost unbearable now. We have a long trip coming up at the end of the month, so we started looking for replacement tires.
After seeing the Pirellis on Discount Tire, I searched for reviews and ran across yours. It sounds like you are looking for the same type of tire as we are: quiet and smoother riding. Hopefully you are still enjoying your Pirellis, because we have an appointment for a set in 215/55R16 at Discount Tire on Saturday!
I will report back here after we get them!

Ok just wanted to report back on the Pirellis after our trip... everything went well and the tires were great!
When we first picked up the car from the tire shop (a few weeks ago), my wife and I were initially kinda disappointed that more road noise wasnt surpressed... but after noticing how much more comfortable and less 'jarring' these tires are over bumps, we realized we made the right choice. Plus, after breaking them in for a few 100 miles, we noticed we were able to hold conversations at significantly lower levels than the stock Dunlops; this was wonderful to my ears! Overall this is a very good tire at a very good price!
Please note: this is NOT a performance tire, but it is comfortable, long life, and relatively quiet for the xD. I did notice that certain pavement types are louder and more pronounced, but its not a big deal.
As far as gas mileage: We averaged about 33-34mpg overall in a 2012 automatic xD over the 1300 miles driven. This is with A/C on the entire way, highway speeds (~74), as well as 4 (not soo small) adults with a weeks worth of luggage (I was impressed).
I had a chance to drive in rain and highway speeds with a full load. At no time did I feel that these tires were unsettled, which is a very good thing.
Would I buy them again? Yes, very likely. I think that they are a great tire for those with a xD who want a more comfortable ride.
I will try to get pictures (once the car is clean ;) ) but the 215 size definitely looks better and fills the wheel well better than the old 195 Dunlops!
Thanks again for the recommendation!

I bought a new set of wheels and tires and also opted for the 215/55R16 tire size. I bought Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 tires and had them mounted on my new wheels from the tirerack. The ride and road noise were MUCH improved. The tire I bought is classified as ultra high performance touring, which is different than the Pirelli P7's. From the first test drive I found that I had the radio on 4 levels lower on the highway. My girlfriend also noticed the improved ride and noise levels. I recently drove about 600 miles round trip to Saratoga, NY and 1400 miles round trip to Atlanta, GA and the new tires made the driving much more comfortable and enjoyable.

Ok, thought I'd post up some pics of the Pirelli P7 Plus' on a 16x7 wheel. The tires are 215/55/r16 and are MUCH better than the stock Dunlops. We are still very happy with them after a month of use!
Yes, it could be lower, but we need the ground clearance right now...
The other side (next to my MINI)
The Pirellis really fill out the 7" wheel / look better than the stock tires.

Thanks! It's my wife's car, but she will be happy to hear that you like it!
In all honesty, she was starting to hate driving it (due to how rough it was) and was considering trading it in; But, the tires really helped to make her like it again. Thanks again for the recommendation!
