Default Color for wheels to compliment magnetic grey?

Hey everyone,

So I bought my cousin's 2008 magnetic grey scion XD last year. Love it. He already had after market mags, nothing too fancy, 5 spoke, and I wanted to mod the car a bit. But I can't find a color that fits!!

In addition to that...

-So I'm going to plastidip part of the front bumper (although it won't show that much..) like the EVO. I will also blaken the emblems.

-Might add a garage weather strip lip as well.

-Chrome handles perhaps

-Also was thinking of modding the fog light area? Not sure what could go there, I've seen some people put reflectors.

I have been searching high and low on what color to dip my wheels.. I'm getting tired of the boring silver (it's not matte but it's not quite shiny either). Nothing seems to go well with it, gunmetal grey is too close to grey, black is too dark (the whole thing looks monotone and dull). I wanted blue lug nuts but I don't feel like spending 50$ upwards on top of the paint. Bronze doesn't feel right either on it and I don't want to color the entire thing a bright green or orange since that seems too juvenile for my personal taste (sorry).

The black with red trim is quite nice but it just doesn't feel... perfect? the best combination I've thought of so far was slightly darker wheels, so a light grey and blue lug nuts but that's more costly than I'm willing to invest in my car. I just want to give it more.. visual oomph.

Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated!!

Sigh why'd he have to buy this color! >.<

(I've tried wheel simulators, I've also photoshopped which just doesn't have the right result. Actually the photo I uploaded includes my photoshop blackened front bumper)

haha it's alright, it is in the same color family but it makes such a huge difference for colors and aesthetics.

Silver, bronze, and even though I'm not really a fan of them, black would look good also.

Silver looks the best I think:

Granted they're steelies but gives you an idea of black, depends on what look you want:

I would give my vote for black as well. It looks pretty good on the grey. Maybe some black accents around the car, you were already thinking of doing the front bumper like that. Maybe a light smoke in the taillights, smoked emblems as well?

I've just never really liked the black rim look (although if I leave the lip silver it's not too bad). I feel it looks like the hubcap fell off the stock wheels.... especially since I live somewhere where there is snow. In the Winter, everybody pretty much has just black on black because the hubcaps did fall off lol. I do have a different set (7 spoke) for Winter but still.

I tried thinking outside the box and coloring the inner lip blue or this or that but nothing really stuck. No such thing as a light blue metallic plasti dip

I guess maybe I will just keep the silver as is then.. any ideas on maybe putting a black accent on a silver wheel? It's usually the other way around.

you could always mask off the lip of the wheels and just paint the spokes, maybe black and that way if you get blue lugs later they will still pop

will the plasti dip get ruined when I reinstall the lug nuts?

Also, if I lower the car 1-2" with the stock equipment, will it put any strain at all on any of the car parts or have any negative repercussions?

I just realized that both links I posted require you to "choose your vehicles color" before it displays the wheels on the car. Choose the color option "other", the car will show as magnetic grey. Not tan/beige as indicated on the color option palet.
