Default new Civic coupe vs tC

i love my tC but lately i having been eyeing the new 06 Civic coupe and i think it looks quite nice. our tc's are great little cars that look great and is a great bang for the buck value however with all the creaks and rattles this car sometimes just drives me nuts. i have used up about 3 rolls of foam tape to quiet the rattles. i guess i am too **** and like everything near perfect.

i have owned 2 Hondas and the Honda's just seem to me more durable and solid than Toyotas. the Civic coupe comes standard with a lip spoiler. put a nice set of rims and a nice spring kit on and the ride would look pretty sweet. i dont want the Si which is only offered in manual transmission. any thoughts?

My thoughts get what you want because our opinions wont be driving your car.

This should be a fun thread.

alot of old civic has tones of rattles, not just your tC

if you can deal with ugly front facia(bumper and headlight)
go get civic

I know Civic has much higher miles per gallon, due to its smaller engine and low low torque.

exactly, nobody here is going to tell you to get a civic.........but hondas are nice, the scion is the first toyota product ive had, usually own hondas and chevy's. but im very satisfied with my Tc, and i would not sell it unless i was getting a 350z or g35. I think the new civic is ok, but looks like the old saturn coupe.
do what makes YOU happy......

Don't plan on doing any Sound mods either, the stereo is entirely intergrated into the dash. I test drove a new civic EX 5 speed. Total POOPIE! that thing is slow! i got back in my tC and was thankful for my torque!

When i first saw the picture of the civic, i didn't even know it was a civic until i looked at the badge... i thought it might have been the new Saturn Ion! The new civic, in my opinion, have very poor styling compared to everything else in its class.

I too drove a new Civic EX and missed my torque. A nice car overall I guess, but personally I didn't like the gauges or the integrated stereo. The seats were really nice with better bolsters on them than on the tC I thought, but the interior trim like the plastic on the dash and doors felt pretty flimsy.

I would recommend a test drive, especially if your new car smell is starting to wear off as mine is, and see which you like better.

the Si is very nice. its also 20 grand for the cheapest model, and 22k for one with nav. thats assuming you can even find one in the first place, and that its not marked up to a ridiculous price. you'll be hard pressed to find any Si in southern california listed under 25 grand; and some are as much as 30.

the regular civic; the one actually in the price range of the tc, is slow as *****. i test drove one and was very very dissapionted. i gotta admit, i really like that neat interior, but it is just slower than walking. i also really dont like the exterior styling of either the coupe or the sedan.

Test drove one about a month ago before I bought another tC, and I really missed the torque that our tC has. It was a struggle to get it up to speed on the freeway. If you don't care about performance, and you want cutting edge style, go for the Civic. But if you want a car that has power, good handling, and looks really classy, then keep your tC. Besides, you will probably lose quite a bit on a trade in.

As far as Hondas being more solid than Toyotas...I have owned both and I have to say my 99 Civic Si rattled worse than any car I have ever been in. Everytime I went over a bump, I thought my dash was going to fall off.

Anyways, do what will make you happy, but keep in mind all aspects before making a decision because you don't want to buy a new Civic and then regret giving up your tC later.

I test drove one a half hour before I bought the tC. It was the speedo that really did it for me. I thought digital dashboards were kind of neat looking -- in 1986. The thought of having to stare at those huge digital numbers, combined with the Saturn styling -- it was no contest. I do wish the tC had better gas milage though.

I absolutely hate Honda. Everytime I see one of those weak civics I pull up next to them and rev all the way to the red line. 127hp? The xA could probably smoke that with an intake! I have only seen one Si in my life. It does seem pretty cool but I feel like my 2.4 has too much more potential. You can bore it to 2.8 and the aftermarket is a favorite for the tC. It sounds like that civic gets more RPM, but power is power. I think it gets 7,800-8,000 red line, good number but I'll still take off!!

Definitely get the new civic coupe. Much nicer than the tC. And I'm sure some honda civics will rattle as any car can, however, tCs are definitely more prone to rattling than any other car I have driven. Personally, the tC is the only car I have owned that rattles. I got rid of mine and couldnt be happier. You should do that same. Rattles only get worse over time. And the tC starts rattling in usually just a few months of ownership.
