Default HELP! Blown A/C fuse

Everything was working fine in my box this morning, including the A/C. I went out for lunch and when I got in my car I noticed that the A/C wasn't blowing cold. I looked at the switch, and it was pressed in but the green light wasn't on. I checked the fuse under the dash, and it was blown. So I replaced, turned on the A/C and it blew again. I don't know what the problem is.

Somebody please help it's freakin' hot here!

Thanks

hmm...do you have anything aftermarket wired to the ac or something that might have shorted out a wire

Not really. I have vent led's, under body led's and a K&N cold air intake. None of which is wired to the A/C or near the switch, but I'm going to go through everything and remove it because if I can't find the problem I'm going to have to take it to the dealer. If they see my aftermarket stuff, they are going to blame the short on the aftermaket stuff. The car is still under warranty.

yeah thats one thing i hate about the dealership...the whole time you are looking at the car they are like "these are the most customized cars on the road" " we love seeing modded scions, thats what this company is all about"...but when you go and mod yours their view on the matter turns really quickly...let me know what it is when you find out, i will keep an ear out also so you can have some of that cold AC again

Sounds like you have a "bad" A/C compressor? The A/C clutch is about the only thing I can think of that will blow a fuse. Let us know what the dealership finds out.

I think it's something with the compressor too. Does anyone know how I could check that? Is the compressor located down by the passenger side wheel well?

^^^Nope! It's the cylinder-shaped component, attached to the engine, when the A/C switch is turned on, the clutch, in front of the compressor, "clicks" on.
Have someone turn on the A/C switch, while you go under the hood and watch it turn on, ya can't miss it...

Ok, I'll check it out. The only problem is that the A/C doesn't come on. It immeditatly blows the fuse. Still, I'll go and visually check it out.

For some reason, the A/C, odometer, and brake lights on my xB are all on the same circuit. (?) I had the same problem with the fuse blowing out, far left upper fuse (10A). It happened everytime I put the car in reverse. Turns out, I had a short in my right rear tail light (reverse light). When the fuse would blow, it also locked out the shifter so it could not be taken out of park until the fuse was replaced ! I fixed that and "ta-dah", no more blown fuses !!!! Still think having these various components all on the same circuit is odd. Why doesn't the A/C have it's own fuse ???

The A/C is on it's on fuse, at least that's how it is on a 5-speed. It's a 7.5 and it's the one that keeps blowing in my car.
