I know Scion does not offer factory cruise control but I have to have it on any care I drive. The nearest dealer will not install any cc and thus will not warranty any problems.

How many current owners have cc installed and have any owners had the dealer install it?? Thanks for any info!!!

I had major problems with my dealer and will not even go back there for an oil change. I went to a non-dealer and had mine installed. I have already been on three 1000+ mile trips this year...no problems.

It's not that hard to install and a lot cheaper than going to a dealer.

It does take quite a bit of time, nearly all day with breaks. And while it's correct to say it isn't hard, it isn't easy either. Especially if you have a manual xB. I had to massage the pigtail on the clutch switch to get the switch installed. I got mine from TRD Sparks. They have the manual on-line, so you can guage the difficulty for yourself. Two things to watch out for are: 1) Double check that you have the correct connector and the correct wire. 2) Adjust the cable slack to within the specifications given in the manaul. A lot of installers, myself included, miss the last step. The control isn't responsive if there is slack in the cable. You can read a bit about that on my blog (linked below).

It took me about 3 hours and for me was easy. If you know your way around a wrench and feel comfortable working on your car, you can do it. If not have a shop install it. Don't take it to the dealer, they will charge you too much.

If you order the CC from AllScion, they will find out the nearest installer from Rostra and email it to you before your CC arrives. They first emailed me one who was 80 miles away and had a bad rep with the BBB. When I pointed that out, AllScion had Rostra find another one in my city who was a member of BBB, had a good report with BBB, and who did aftermarket installations for many local dealers.

I have the SCS 4342/4365 from bought4less.com (listed here under Features>Parts). It took me about 3 hours to install it, with the steering wheel buttons, not the column stick. The installation is a little techy but they do have excellent telephone support. This cc holds true mph uphill and downhill. I've had it for over a year now.

The dealership from which I bought my car told me they can have it put in and my warrenty would cover it as long as I did it through the dealership in which I bought it!!
