Default How to Disable TPMS light?

Switched to aftermarket wheels, don't feel like buying a set of TMPS. The light on the dash doesn't bother me too much, but if it's possible to disable it without going to the dealership then I'd rather have it off.

I looked in the owner's manual and there's a diagram that says the TMPS set button (which I assume can be used to disable the light too) is located in the bottom-ish right corner of the glove box. I can't find one in my TC2 though. Am I supposed to take the glove box apart to access it or something?

You can't disable it.

why didn't you just transfer the tmps sensors? Not hard...wheel/tire places do it all day long.

by law your car has to have them, so by law, it probably can't be disabled.

By law, the car has to be delivered with TPMS...and a tire shop cannot do work on the car if they are disabled...but you can give them loose wheels to work on the tires.

....desoldering a led that is useless on incompatible wheels is redneck while having a pressurized PVC pipe with NOS stickers in the trunk isn't?

I dont put the sensors in my summer wheels. I just swap them out, keep the stock tires close to the car and reset the light. My sensor light stays off, and has for 3 almost 4 years now

Hahaha... A+ for creativity with the TPMS bomb!

But I agree with Batman. We're talking about what is the least redneck/ghetto fabulous option. There is no eliminating it altogether without adding the TPMS back in. I'd say pull the LED. Should be a 10 minute mod.

Thanks for the responses, guys. Guess I'll just have to live with it, no big deal. Haha that TPMS bomb is pretty cool, dont think the owner is a ricer, he's just having some fun fooling around.

Lol in all honesty the TPMS bomb is pretty clever.

If this was my car I would go back to the place that did the wheels and pitch a fit that they didn't tranfer the sensors.
If you don't think they'll fix it for you then the electric tape method really isn't that bad and it's less permanent than desoldering the led. Dont but the tape on top of the light but rather behind it. Remove the gauge face and cover the shine through section for the TPMS light with electrical tape and then you wont have to see the ugly light.
Then if youre ever getting new tires and can have the sensors properly put back in the wheels, you can just remove the piece if tape.

And…electrical tape is not cool…bombs on the other hand are cool!

Red-neck…well…yes, but just like spud guns, even though red-neck are fun to play with.
