ouch.. i feel ur pain to go through all the process of signing up for an account, confirmation just to bash on us tC lovers here.. camry or not.. i'm loving the ride, the features, the safety, the "o ____ this car is tight" comments, as you already said.. the reliability of camry, #1 selling car in us. you pointed out for us, guess you signing up to bash us is a good thing afterall..

btw, did cybergypsy get banned? i coulda swear this sounds just like her

You have to wait for a tC too huh? Or did the dealer give you crap and you ended up going with another car out of spite? either way, we feel your pain. dont worry.... you can always trade in your car and get a tC later.
welcome to the board

okee...sorry to bring this insurance rant/tC bash-unbash back on track. . .BUT

I am getting a very odd noise too. its not coming from the visor, but when I'm driving around 75-80 (normal RIGHT-lane traffic in DFW) there is a very odd, almost an Intermittent humming sound coming out of one of the A/C vents (driver side).

NO, I'm not bashing the tC. I LOVE THIS CAR. And no, I don't care what the AC **** is made of...but if anyone else has experienced this noise, and had the dealer check it out, please reply and let me know if its a fixable issue.

were all your windows including the pano top closed? that was a really strange noise. i would have scion look at that.
i got up to 60 on one of my test drives and it was more quiet than my civic.

maybe that particular part of that particular car was at an odd angle on the assembly line. they havent had a ton of time to work out the bugs in the PLC programming in that factory i guess.

keep us updated

____ on wheels...I wondered why my new car smell was a little different than usual. I love my tC...if I'm 34 and not a "young" person does that mean that I did in fact not get suckered?

Cheers..Josh :D

Here it is, I have my sunroof closed all the way.. when I drive like around 80 I hear this really loud wind noise I think maybe through the visor.. maybe theres a little uneven surface letting the wind get through.... but only happens when i drive around 80.. Any of you experienced it?

edit: sound added

You peeps gotta chill out on the flaming... anyway, BACK to the original question at hand... Ive noticed on a tC that someone owns, a little black lip at the very tip of the glass top... its closer to the front windshield... it doesnt always seal, so you might have to push it down with your fingers... its usually a weather lining issue, so be sure to take into to your dealer to have it re-lined

Wow never seen that much flaming on this board!

Funny up here in the Motor City (Detroit) you hear about someone buying an American car that has a concern/problem/issue with it, it is usually related it to the poor American build quality. This is my first non-American car. With the xB I hear people say that you have to remember that it is a very inexpensive car so don't worry about the little stuff. Kind of weird I could have bought a PT Cruser cheaper than the xB. It is a good deal for the xB but it is not the only car in the price range. I love driving the car and the great MPG. That is why I bought it over the others.

I am very very happy with the xB. I would buy it again but I do expect it to be a quality car just like I would for any car. I have been very happy with my past American cars. My Chevy truck was back to the dealer once after 2 years. I have 2 problems with the xB now after a month. It will go into service this week. Again I am happy but I will treat this car like any other.

Maybe it's some wind noise from the driver side mirror - somewhere where the wind is being forced through a very narrow spot..??

hmm i thought it was on the top.. like near the sunroof... SpdLmtNA may be right, the plastic lip does seems like its in a weird shape, not covering everything.. I wonder if it rained where the water would go on it....

the reason I think its on top is because when I pull back the sunroof cover.. i thought it sounded louder....

Absintheisfun, did you just installed an alarm? I just had an alarm installed.. I hope its not because of that..

you could fill the inside of the car with water and see where the bubbles come in... but then theres the whole part about drowning and that would kinda suck.

just listened to that.. and that noise is identical to the noise i had from my civic's windshield when they didn't seat it correctly.. it was the molding strip around the windshield lifting up and causing that whistle.. it's definitely a molding strip.. resealing that or the resealing the urethane around the windshield is the solution.. i can bet money on it!!
