Engine Swap and LSD Install!!
#102
Carlos can explain it better than I can (cause he was driving it...lol) but had something to do with a lean spot if I remember correctly. He was tuning on e85 (just swapped over to that fuel). I think he said he got it all on a datalog aswell.

hey quick question when you installed the differential ring gear? did use a thread sealant on the bolts coz I didnt use any.. and how did you hold it down so you can torque it to 78 lbs, I used an impact gun on mine lol..
also in the repair manual it was mentioning about the matchmarks on the differential and gear ring, did you do that or you just slapped it on and bolted it down

She blew because it got lean, I was tuning with my bro so who knows what he did on the map. Although the fuel system was almost maxed out anyways. Pretty sad though, she had about 35-40k miles and ran awesome. Good thing it happened about a mile from my place and I just coasted her almost all the way home, about 1/4 mile short that I ended up pushing her :-0
LSD has been working great, much better than stock. One thing to take into consideration, I would recommend using whatever decent gear oil you can find and swap it out for a light 75w-90 at 1k miles. I had grinding and stuff around that mileage mark, swapped the oil to a heavy 75w-90 and it worked but still had the occasional hard to shift grind. Finally made the move at 5k miles to a light 75w90 GL-4 gear oil and it has been perfect since.
ACE I don't remember all the details on the marks, I know there was something about it though. I followed the Toyota tech sheets to the T. Oh yeah on the torque, Man Power! Not really, I had my brother torque it while I hold the assembly.

goukisama - that was pretty much it, although the speed gear was not necessary. Only reason I installed it was in case i wanted to add the speed sensor from the Camry to use it as an input to a stand alone.
dlhblh26 - i got it from autotech.com, they are mainly a vw parts company, but they had abunch of them in stock and were going away from quaife to make their own design called wavetrac. It was over two years ago, but you could call and be that lucky guy who got the last one. Heck of you were local, I would give you a hand with the install.
Shoot forgot about this thread, lately I've been busy adding a new stable mate to my street triple
