Default Seat Belt Warning (Disable Beeping)

I'm sure that some of you are annoyed with the seatbelt BEEP. If so this is for you.

This will work for all Scion / Toyota.

It can be turned off.
1.) Power on (ignition on will do)
2.) Set trip/ODO to ODO (if its already on ODO you will have to cycle through)
3.) Power off
4.) Power on w/brake on
5.) (Within 6 seconds), press and hold the ODO for 10 seconds or more
6.) While STILL holding the ODO *after 10 seconds*, buckle BOTH seatbelts. Now release the ODO
7.) You will see in the trip display either a "b on" or "b off"
8.) Press the ODO to toggle between "b on" or b off" YOU WANT "b off"
9.) Now power off.

If battery is disconnected, you may lose your setting. Default is always "b on"

It is not a joke. They always make you do stupid stuff like that. Usually it is not that complicated though lol.

Neat. I added this to the Tech Section. I'll move it to the FAQ forum in a week or so. Thanks to stick_1NZ for the heads-up!

Ive dont this to my tC, its annoying, and to those saying "OMG BBQ WHY DONT YOU JUST BUCKLE UP LOL OK?? HAR HAR". Usually when I am driving slow through the bank drive through that thing is annoying, or when Im gonna park my car. We all know we should wear our seat belts, but not all of us enjoy hearing the BEEP BEEP BEEP x10000.

Walk into the bank, and when you park your car, turn it off then take off your seat belt. Now your set. YEA!

And correct me if I'm wrong, but it only beeps when the car is moving?

it's already in icdedpple's stickied FAQ, as is virtually every other question one might ask about the tC. new people can CLICK HERE to read the most underutilized FAQ on the boards.

Try moving a turkey and the seatbelt beep keeps on going off.

you're right, but sometimes i get unduly frustrated with the same questions over and over when the FAQ is so readily available. it describes all of the easter egg type things, i.e., turning off the seat belt warning, turning off the maintenance light, changing the deck settings, what bulbs are where, yada, yada. i'd think everyone would have it in their bookmarks.

sometimes when i park my car i take it off a second before the car stops rolling --- i had no choice but to disable this ugly sound. .... the above steps work great ...only step i forgot was to plug the belt in at the end (which made me ____ed off cause i tried doing it like 20times before i gave up and went back inside to re-read the directions)
