Money for our region had dwindled down quite a bit over the years. Kind of sucks but interest in general has gone way down over the years. If we could get people interested again I'm sure Scion would notice and would want to spend the $$ on shows again. Which is partly why I'm trying to resurrect this dead thread lol. I know Scion monitors the boards so it's a great way to show them our interest.

All of the above is my opinion and probably is wrong so take it with a grain of salt.

I think part of the issue is people don't have the extra money for their hobbies as they used to. One thing Scion reps need to realize though is owning a scion for most of us isn't just ownership of a vehicle, it's a lifestyle and for them to invest into that lifestyle is a great marketing tool, better than any commercial you can spend your money on.

I've talked to our scion rep and he has told me they still want to do a lot of it but they're waiting for dealers to jump on board. Our dealer is working to get scion back up and going but it takes some work. I have a question though, if we did a big show here in Joplin Missouri, how many people would show? Talk to all your friends. Of I can get enough people to say they'll be there, management will say to a show.

The biggest problem I see is that Other then a higher priced model and a tiny little car, Scion has done NOTHING to appeal to crowd they they were originally after.

The IQ is a nice little(keyword: LITTLE) car for commuting around town. The FR-S is exactly what it's supposed to be and kudos to Scion for getting it BUT........

Where are the quarky vehicles that scion started out life with? The xA and xB are what MADE scion what it was. compact(but not too small) and affordable. The IQ sells for more then a 1GxB did when it came out.

Scion needs to get back into the game. They need something quarky but still not too outragious. Small, affordable, and fun.

It would be nice to see them get back on track. Get consumers on board and you will get dealers on board.

You know you did a great job when a 7 year old car is still easily able to sell for only $4k-5k less then when it was new.

The thing is Scions are now appealing to an older crowd. Instead of the 18-27 set its now 27-40 set. Scion is trying to catch up to the move in trends but is falling short. The iQ is for the young kids commuting to college or for a single person traveling to work. The fr-s was supposed to be the fun car but again Scion screwed the pooch by making it under powered but the second gen will fix that.

Scion is having issues adjusting and unless they can they may just die off. Especially here in the central region where our rep sucks.

I've driven the frs and its bad a@&. Just sayin. I love the car and will own one soon. I talked to our scion rep and according to him, Toyota did exactly what they were trying to do.

The frs is a perfect platform. That's all it needed to be. Let the aftermarket do what they will afterwards. Because power is an issue that can be overcome, design flaws cannot. Dump the same mods on a Hyundai genesis and you'll see what I mean.

Now, to the issue of models available, I agree. Scion screwed themselves by discontinuing the xb and xD. However, it will not stay this way. Scion is working on a new model from what I'm told. So don't lose faith yet. The market has changed quite a bit as well.

Kids coming out of college don't have jobs readily available and therefore have less expendable money. So less car sales to that age group. I sell cars for a living so I see it every day. More retirement people and less younger people buying cars.

There's Shine N Dine in Springfield.

Also has been talks about bringing back Scion Pinups this year too.

STL isn't too far if you ever want to come up for some of the shows around here or just to hang out. We're planning on putting another cruise here in the near future, I'll post up the details once we get them ironed out.

Here's some pics from out last cruise/meet and greet in Columbia, MO:
