Alright guys, I just changed the oil in my 05 auto with about 4 quarts of ATF. Everything went nice, put a new washer on and took it for a spin. Didn't notice any improvement and maybe a little lag on shifts. Maybe I am just looking too close and it was like this before but is this possible once you change the fluid? Does it get worse before it gets better since all of the sludge might be getting loosened up (if even possible)? I am going to do another change out next week to complete the soft flush and get most of the old fluid out that mixed in with the new. I am doing it this was since I don't like the idea of having the dealer pressurize the trans to flush it. BTW I checked the fluid level, on hot it is a little over the top notch, I'd say about 5 mm...could this be an issue?

Not really sure what you mean by pressurizing it to flush.

The way that most people have done it is by disconnecting the transmission lines to the radiator and then putting the output end in a bucket (or w/e) and then putting the inlet tubing into a new bottle of transmission fluid. Then turn on the engine and let it work it's way through a couple bottles of fluid in this manner.

If you completely drain the transmission and fill it back up... you need to be careful of possible air bubbles or air pockets that can get trapped within the housing. If you look on the mobil1 and Amsoil's websites, they have the product spec sheets. On these sheets they do recommend that the flushing should be done professionally to avoid the air pockets that can get produced and trapped.

I would check the fluid level for a period of time, before and after driving it for a couple days. Other than that... no idea to be honest.
