Accidentally redlined 05 xA
So I accidentally redlined my 2005 xA, it SEEMED like the fuel shut off temporarily or something. I drove it all the way back home (about 25 mins) and it seemed to drive perfectly fine. I'm freaking out a little and need to know you guys opinions... Does it shut off fuel to prevent damage or rev limit to keep it safe or did I just really screw my car up?

It was valve float. It OVER revved. I did this to my 2010 Yaris at a traffic light. The muffler was so quiet that I couldn't hear the car revving because my size 14 shoe was pressing the gas pedal. I had the radio on. It revved so high that it began backfiring and that's what I eventually heard and glanced down to see the tachometer pegged!! Since then I've installed a performance muffler that I can hear and the engine seems 100% unharmed. (It was a while ago.) I think that these engines are plenty tough. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Car still driving fine, no over heating. I seems like I've lost a little bit of power (or maybe im just taking it easy hoping nothing is wrong) you think maybe a messed up compression or something? maybe the rings?

I really wouldn't worry that much about a couple quick taps. My car was doing that with no problem up to 475,000 miles. What ultimately brought it to its knees was city driving, changing the filter but not the oil (part synthetic and not full synthetic), among other new variables that could have done it. But honestly, it took 155,000 miles on me being enthusiastic-- this engine is fairly tough. Bouncing off the limiter for a minute would kill anything, but I mean come on, this is how she lived.
Now I can say that it did have an overrev and a tick from last year-- but that was 90,000 miles with little change in how it performed. This was the difference before and after the over-rev. It was only a few months between these two videos.
Overrevs are common for the Echo, xA, and xB. Trying to go for a 3-4 shift can land you in second when you should have been locked out synchros wise, buuuut nope. That will do some stuff. Never did find out what exactly the tick was. I just lived with it.
And the death rattle, which is a different sound and different end-- not the same problem.
Still drove another 12 miles like that, and still fast enough to pull away from the slow buggers at the lights.
So does it sound like either of those?
