I am part of a rather growing car club in the Arkansas area; about a month ago, I mentioned to them how close I was to getting a turbo kit for my tc (Ptuning most likely but Dezod has an amazing deal going on right now).

Someone instantly told me that my stock internals would not hold and my motor would be blown within two months. I drive this car on a daily basis and that is a problem for me.

I have seen members with kits who have posted replies about the kits being great as far as making good power.. But for the turbo guys, how long have you been turbo'd on stock internals?

I'll be running 7 psi or so.

If not installed and tuned properly, yes, it is entirely possible, but no, it is proven time and time again, you can turbo a N/A stock engine and daily drive it. I did it with my first gen tC and I'm doing it right now with my FRS.

Is it possible? yes, especially if you don't have proper heat management. So it is a good idea to have some $$$$ set aside for a motor swap or rebuild if you blow out the motor.

You'll be fine. Proper tune with 91 octane or higher and good quality synthetic oil like royal purple or Mobil 1 and you'll be off to the races. Asked the same question a while back. There's members with 100k miles of there 2.5l turbo tc. At least that's what I was told.

im this same boat with you.. but honestly if you just take care of your engine and watch the heat and how its running and always changing the fuilds and not trying to race it at every stop light.. i think it will be good for a long while.

If you maintain it well, drive it responsibly and tune it well (again all in your control) it will last just fine.

But a word of advice, if you can't afford the turbo kit you can't afford something going wrong (mechanical damage from boost).
