Default FRS Shift **** fits on tC Second Gen? HELP!

Hello All,

I wonder if you can help me: I want to buy a shift **** for my tC and found one that I really like, the problem is because this **** is for FRS
and the vendor doesn't know if it fits on tC. We belive yes, but not sure...I have attached a picture of the ****.

Another problem is that the vendor is in the US and I'm in Canada, so is not like "go to the store and try it".

Not sure if somebody have one of this on your car or if have tried a FRS shift **** on your tC.

Thank you in advance for your help!

From the looks of it the reverse ring looks identical as well.

I thought I read that the reverse lockout on the FRS is the slightly smaller size that Subaru uses. The hole for the reverse lockout to go up in to the **** may be to small for it to fit but it will definitely thread on.

Likely an easy fix with a dremel if that is the case. It'd be nice to have the reverse ring out of the frs since it's black. That cheap silver plastic looks like crap. Maybe I'll plastidip it.

UPDATE: I have tried the FRS shift **** in my tC this morning and have bad news: As Scorch said, the reverse lockout is waay smaller on the FRS than on the tC. Is no way to Dremel it, since basically the FRS **** doesn't
have too much wall thickness. The size of the shaft and the threads fits fine though... But in summary, don't try to buy FRS shift ***** for a tC because reverse lockout doesn't fit. I will cancel my order in the next minutes ....

Thank you all for your feedback!

Yeah its kind of ____ty because their really sin't much available for the tC2. Being able to use FRS ***** would give us some actual selection. That said fi your still looking for a know Password JDM is probably your cheapest option (although I ran in to some bad customer service trying to buy their brass one), other then that TWM has them and Lathe Werks will make them.

I would like to replace my tC 2.5 shift **** as well.

Can somebody please explain to me why the Reverse Lockout matters if I am just changing the ****?

Thanks
Matt

Would a round **** like this fit? I think the threads match. Also found it advertised as fitting the FR-S.

The Reverse Lockout goes up in to the shift **** when you shift in to Reverse. If the cut out for it is too small you wont be able to move the lockout up in order to get in to Reverse. You can leave the **** up higher so you can
still get in to Reverse but you'll be able to see the ugly white plastic washers the **** normally covers. You will have the same problem with that **** as Pedro had with his, it will screw on but you wont be able to get into Reverse.

Thank you Dutchman! Actually this **** looks very nice!. I wonder if you or somebody in the forum have experience to buy from this TRDsparks guys?...

The TRDsparks site looks fine but as you know, sometimes is even a little more difficult when dealers has to ship to Canada, that is why I ask for someone's experience.

In regards the suggestion from Wolfman ****, this **** looks cool and maybe fits, but since the reverse lock will be totally visible, I guess will look kinda ugly on the tC, unfortunately.

I bought a shift **** for an STi (cheap eBay), then drilled out the reverse lock on a drill press to fit.

Trd sparks is great. Bought my supertek short shift kit there. Emailed a few questions and got back to me in minutes and delivery was quick. Believe they shipped the next morning.

UPDATE: I have received my **** yesterday from TRD Sparks and as a Dutch reccomend, they have a really good customer service!. Sent me the tracking number and from US to Canada, time wasn't bad at all, just week and a half total.

The **** fits perfect and is weighted, so feels and looks great!. I have attached couple of pics. Apologize for the quality but was taken with my crappy phone.

Thank you Dutch and all the crew for the tips!
