Default Brake pads, rotors

How many people get their rotors cut when they change their pads ? I am going to be changing mine soon and i can't ever remember me shaving down the rotors. Just curious.

most of us just replace the rotors. it is not expensive.
check out Dezod's site. 69 dollar for a pair of front rotor.

I'd second that... usually easier to just replace them if they're bad and not bother having them turned. Especially if you're doing the work yourself.

I am doing the work myself but i guess i dont want to just go buy rotors for the sake of buying rotors. I am not rough on braking and have just under 60K on the factory pads (A lot of highway mileage). My original plan was to just replace the pads and keep on truckin.

So ack i guess all i need to do is visual inspection for warped rotors (which i doubt they are as i get smooth braking) or deep groves to determine if they are bad.

Ya, give them a once over and see if they're bad. If you don't notice any major issues (really deep groves, major pitting, warpage, etc) don't bother replacing them. Just be sure to bed your pads in properly and you'll be fine.

I don't think I had any with mine. The last ones I had installed were EBC YellowStuff... and they had some rubber-ish shims that attached to the back of the pads.

I always recommended turning rotors after brake pad installs. Also for an FYI, you won't be able to visually see if your rotors are out of round (commonly and wrongly called warped), to do this inspection you will need a dial caliper at minimum.
