how would you know if amps can't handle it?

Call me crazy, but if Toyota owned Eclipse, wouldn't there be Eclipse HU's in Scion vehicles, and NOT Pioneer? Seems illogical.

I have wondered the same thing. And the new special edition xb has Alpine stereo and speakers in it. What wrong with throwing in a Eclipse navi system instead of just an alpine dvd? I would for sure pay the extra for the special edition if it had eclipse navi. My dad has an eclipse double din nav in his Subaru and it's a very nice deck.

honestly the reason i think is along the same lines as the reason that I myself didn't know about Eclipse until a few months after i got my car, but i did know about Pioneer and Alpine. and an eclipse would def be WAY too much for a factory HU

They told me the same thing....can someone confirm they have no clue what they are talking about (which I'm assuming they don't) before I buy...only thing holding me up is that I'll loose my steering wheel controls. If I won't then I'll buy it today.

Thanks guys!

if its a double din unit with video, it has the sw control port right in the back. The single din like the cd3000 doens't have that port, it would need to be hard wired (still better than using a pac adapter). The double dins like avn units are perfectly compatable with the sw controls

No problem. If I may add though, save some money and get the avn5435. The ONLY difference between the 5435 and the 5500 is that the 5500 comes with the newer nav disc. It'd probably be a lot cheaper to buy the 5435 and purchase the upgraded nav disc for the couple hundred it costs than buying the 5500 outright. Otherwise, save the extra couple hundred and deal with a 1year older nav disc (real big difference, lol)

Actually if you are looking at the AVN5435, here is a great deal on one. Great price and a great unit. Only difference between the AVN5435 and AVN5500 is the AVN5500 has a newer NAV DISC(BUT THE MDV-07D, NAV UPDATE from Eclipse will be released in the next couple weeks, which this model is covered on that update, and that will be the same NAV DISC that the AVN5500 has). IMO stick with the AVN5435, you still won't be disappointed!! Hope this helps!!!

+1

Nothing on the AVN5495 is a direct plug-in with the exception of the antenna (2006 tC). You'll need to hardwire the unit into your existing harness.
can anybody else confirm this?
