Default oem trunk lift for hood?

i was wondering if it would be possible to use an oem trunk lift support as a hood lift? if so does anyone know of any diy guide i could follow for it or maybe a link to a decent, but cheap hood lift kit? most hood lift kits ive seen are around 100 which is why i wanted to see if i could use a trunk lift support instead which i found for around 20

Save yourself the engineering time and problems and get the kit before you damage something and it becomes more expensive.

Password JDM has a dampener kit from Tein for $200. Something tells me this is overpriced, but worth a shot. That or any other kit you found is probably the best option.

I have a pair of NRG hood struts if you're interested, $75 shipped.

NRG site says there are full pressure and low pressure versions, low for lightweight hoods - these are the 700CF, supposedly for a carbon fiber hood, but were mounted on an OEM hood, no issues.
