Default ipod hookup? how or explain

I test drove one the other day and looked at the ipod connection port. It had a bunch of exposed pins. I didn't really get how the ipod connected to this, is there a cable that you get that goes into this and then gives you a standard ipod dock connection?

Could someone explain or show pictures?

Thanks,

Mike

hey mike i just got my 2xb today. when you get the car, the car comes with an adapter(3ft cord) that connects to the car and into the ipod. and it charges the ipod at the same time. also the car came with one of those i pod holers that fits into the cup holder thingy that work well keeping you ipod in place.

cool. thanks so much! I sort of figured that's how it worked, just wasn't clear and I couldn't find a manual or anything in the car when I was poking around in it.

What radio did you get and what do you think of the ipod integration? Is it nice?

i just got the stock radio. and for stock its pretty damn nice. the ipod hookup is quick and i didnt have much chance to play around with it (i was driving) but it listed all in the small scrren something like (12/1012) menaing i was playing song #12 outof 1012. the right dial would choose the song number. im not sure if you can search by playlist or folder or what though. but im expecting my AVIC d3 so that should be a good step up. but ill play more with it tom and post new findings

thanks! The one I test drove had no radio. So I couldn't even tell what the sounds was like. Kinda weird. Little bummed too...I wanted to play with all that and hear it.

just got mine last night and a couple things about the ipod adapter and stereo. I have the base system

1. way to go Scion making it stock on all models and giving you the cable
2. Great interface for oem stereo. My ridglinbe you had to buy an adapter and it was crap
3. the interface location stinks. I would have preffered in the glove box or center console. it is very awkward where it is located.
4. The stereo sounds horrible, but that will change soon. I think I wil try and pick up a premium from someone and add some amps

Unless the 2010's are different mine just has a auxillary jack and a usb port on the center console, I just plug the ipod usb cord into the usb port.

Mine has auxiliary and Ipod. I just bought the ipod cable off ebay, as well as a new Ipod Classic with 160gigs of storage.

I have the base radio. When I hook the ipod via the Scion cable, to the ipod port, with the Radio control the song selection?

yeah. the iPod is completely interfaced to the stereo so you cant choose the song on the ipod. you have to use the **** selector to choose the song/album/artist etc.

Got the cable in from eBay, and hooked up the Classic 160gb too. Man, it works great, I love it, and am kicking myself in the ****. I just wish the iPod would turn itself off when the car does.
