Default Dealer Theft...

So I was having problems with my vehcile lately and took it to the dealership about 2 weeks ago, I dropped it off and it took them over a week to diagnose the problem, it turned out my s/c had gone bad and they had to replace it and get a new bracket for it.

So the car sat at the dealership while waiting for parts and when I get my vechile back there are 22 missing CD's that were stolen from me. I picked my car up friday night so I havn't been able to talk to my service rep, and I briefly talked to the manager about this and he's pulling the bs that they arn't responsible for lost or stolen items. Except this wasn't a random theft, there is no outside damange or signs of forced entry, so someone with the key to the vechile had to of stole them. I still have orginal cases to some of the CDs and also know every CD that is missing (dunno if this will help or not..).

I know some people on here work at dealerships so I want some suggestions on what to do if your dealership looted your vehicle while it was waiting on parts..? This really ____es me off and my new s/c bracket still hasn't came in, supposed to be here monday and I don't really feel comfortable bringing my vehicle back to a bunch of theifs...

Honestly my friend you are pretty much up a creek with no paddle. Usually they will tell you if you have anything of value to take it with you. The CDs you are missing will more than likely stay that way. Especially if your car has been there a week there is no telling who it could have been.

My advice, take your car to another Scion Dealer, report the incident to Scion Corporate, and NEVER leave valuables in your car again.

Sorry to hear this happened to you.

they are just gonna say its not there responsability etc...

and even if it was an inside job, they probably will deny it to stop themselves from getting sued or something. u can take it to corporate but it probably wont help much. just try and get the seucrity tapes

Yeah I figure nothing is gonna happen but I'm not a big fan of being screwed over.. I normally take items out of my vehcile when I stop at random shops to get work done, but a certified toyota dealership I didn't think I would need too. I _____ed to the service manager for almost an hour and threatend to get a lawyer and my cd binder finger printed (which I'm not gonna waste my time with..) and find out who it was that way if he didn't want to help me, and he seemed to go from an I don't give a fk attitude to a wanting to work things out attitude. He said he's gonna "investigate" and see if he can figure out what happened. Its a really big dealership here that always talk about there "award winning service department" so I'm hoping the guy will work something out with me to keep the dealers reputation. Cause I'm sure they would business if people fround out they hired theifs.

Yeah I hate shady that take people's personal belongings.

Report it to Corporate, give them some headache. And tell them that you will post on a popular online forum about what happen and ruin their reputation.

Ya I know they got these signs and policies and what not, but that don't mean because they got this sign up my vehicile should be free game to loot by the service staff. If it was a random theft from sitting on the lot I wouldn't be upset at all, ____ like that happens... but the fact that it was a service member hired by the service manager should make him responsible for hiring a theif. He should be responsible for his employees.

thats utter crap. even if they have a "we're not responsible for theft" sign up... what... does that mean that someone can put a set of stock wheels onto your car, "borrow" your aftermarkets forever, and "oops, sorry, we're not responsible for hte theft"

bullsh*t

Ya, not all mine were burned CDs which is what ____es me off more. I spent money to purchase these CDs and then someone at a toyota dealer is gonna take em from me? Don't work like that, at least in my mind it dont, and I won't go down without a fight.

Comparing wheels to CDs is a little bit extreme if you ask me.

Just take it as a lessoned learned. If your car was there for just the day, then yes that's jacked up. BUT, they had it for 2 weeks. Obviously you didn't miss the CDs too much enough for you to just go down to the dealership and get them. I'm not trying to preach. I know how you feel about paying your hard earned $crill for things for your car. That's why I take everything out of my car whether it be an oil change or going to the dealership. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Since you don't want to 'go down without a fight', you might want to make a report to the BBB.
