Default Anyone else have this problem?

Well it was going to be a bit until they got me a radio... so after waiting for a good 6 months for the car I got a little impatient.... So I got an aftermarket unit installed rather than wait.

Unfortunately there is a problem....

There is about a 1/2 inch or so gap on each side of the radio. Even though i plan on going to a double din monitor later on now I am worried there will be a similar problem...

Anyone else done an aftermarket deck and know what fit kit is available that will correct that?

Someone told me the double din pioneer fits like a glove even with radius corners.

If an audio shop gave you back your car like that dont ever go to them again. There has to be a better kit available and if there isnt then expect Scosche and the other big names to have one available very soon...

ABsolutely, I assumed that was DIY, if that was from a stereo shop, take it back and have them fix it or get your money back is possible..... We just did one on a boat and cut out a piece of plastic used for notebooks, trimmed it and it looks great on the boat. Doing something for that shouldn't be that hard.

Hmmm, makes sense considering Pioneer is doing the OEM units.

I wonder if the Pioneer AVICs might be a drop in fit for the stock opening?

(Although I understand the Scion Nav Unit is by Alpine?)

I installed a DoubleDin Kenwood in my friend's CRV. Used factory brackets and they give you a big trim panel so u can custom fit it to ur vehicle and not see all the guts of the dash.

U can fab something up to fix what u have.

You just need to get the double din trim kit that's all. Metra makes them, they are just 2 side plastic pieces and they can screw into the sides of the stereo to fill the gap. It will work for the single DIN as well as double.

As for the Kenwoods, I think all the new units come with the necessary side pieces now.

Metra and Scosche both make a kit to fill those holes. The one for the 06 works on the 08 as well. Not sure when I will get my car back from the shop but if i get a chance i will snap some pics up.
