Default Test drove an xB today

Marylander here...test drove an xB, and it's rather nice. Pictures don't do it justice. Outside, small, inside huge, especially w/ the back seats folded. This Sales guy, jump in and showed how a person could easily fit it. I love how there's a nice thud each time I close the doors/liftgate, very sturdy for it's price.

When I drove the car from a stop to street speed, I heard the noise. The rumble. I thought it the dealer had the TRD muffler in the back. But the sales guy said it was bone stock. Yeah, no drone, at least to my ears. Ride was rough, then again I was on this uneven road. It is still rough on well paved highways compared to my current ride, but hey it's nice. The steering wheel vibrated a bit, oh wait, it's a 4-cyl. For it's small engine, it has a pretty good getty-up and go when passing. This guy in a MB Coupe looked and stared at the xB...and an older couple (70 years old) was staring at the xB too

By the way, the sales guy said xB is a longstroke engine setup, now, what does that mean?

Is the AEM CAI installed at the factory or a the dealer? I forgot to asked the sales guy that question.

Like the no hassle approach too, this Toyota guy meet me outside and tried the dealership hassle, but I said I was here for the Scion. So he was courteous and sent me over to the Scion Rep. Didn't put any on the deposit yet. Probably sometime in Feb.

I know "stroke" is how far the pistons travel in the cylinder...so I'm guessing longstroke means it has a long cylinder?

With tha CAI...it's installed at the dealership, I believe...you're better off buying it somewhere else for cheaper, though...

also...what dealership did you go to? I think I might stop by the Waldorf dealership and check it out since I'm in town...

The CAI can only come from the dealer, and can't be contracted into the deal...meaning you can't wrap it into payments. I have no idea why, but it's the only accessory you have to pay cash for seperately.

Default long stroke engine

Long stroke refers to the length of the cylinder and basically a "long stroke" engine has better top end power. Drew you can't wrap the intake into the deal because of some federal emissions standard. Basically the car has to meet the stardards from the factory adding the intake changes it a little. That's how it was explained to me. Hope that helps Drew.

The first one I went to (guy showing how a person can fit) was at CarMax Laurel Toyota/Scion right on US Route 1. They had a nice setup area for Scion. Also I got the brochure (Scion info and ScionMagazine/DVD). I didn't asked the guy if they had one available for a test drive. Right after that I went to Anterpen in Clarksville. No brochure, but took the test drive. Walforf is by Southern MD, I was in CentralMD. The antwerpen guy told me that there is a lot more orders down in SoMAD than where I was. Probably a bunch from Rockville...LOL.

I test drove an auto xB today and now I know why everyone says get manual. It's a lot better. I've had the manual for sometime now, first manual car I ever had, and still after sitting in traffic yesterday for 1.5 hrs only traveling 18 miles (yes, 18), I still haven't gotten the feeling that I would ever want to go back to automatic because it saves energy. Good luck with the ride

I'm "handicapped." Can't, haven't driven a stick. Also the fact that my folks will probably want to drive too so they can head over to Home Depot and buy flowers...hahaha.

hey Jason,
What are the qualifications to test drive the xB? Do I just have to sign a waiver? Also, what kind of transmission does the xB on your lot have?

Thanks

I was asking the parts dudes about that yesterday actually. My exact question was "we were keeping our project car kind of tame because somewhere down the road we may have to sell it...what's this supercharger going to do to the warranty/resale aspect?"

I think the response was something like "I dunno, but who cares? We're getting a supercharger!"

LOL Parts guy, you gotta luv 'em.

Regardless, I guess since it's going on the dealer car, we don't have to worry about it. When the TRD turbo comes out, I have no idea if we can wrap it into the deal or not. I hope so. I'd much rather have a payment bumped $40 a month than have to come up with $2500 out of pocket!

Default test drive/ S/C

Yeah Mike it's kind of different than test driving a "normal" car. Basicaly you have to sign a rental agreement form, although you don't have to pay anything to drive the car, the saleperson also has to make a copy of your DL and a copy of your poof of insurance( insurance card ), Why? well that's because the cars are at the dealerships under Toyota Rental Cars even though they are not rented out they also are not part of the normal inventory so I guess the dealer's insurance doesn't cover them that's why you have to have insurance to test drive the Scions. This will all change once we get going in Feb than we will have "normal" cars for customers to demo. About trasmissions we have a xA auto, and a xB auto. Let me know if I can do anything else for ya.
Drew
Cool, yeah I know what you mean about those parts guys let me know when you find out. I curious about how much the S/C improves engine proformance.

Mercedez-Benz Coupe, I think it was the cheap C-class model.

Just going from basic knowledge ( which aint a lot ), i think i would rather go with a turbo rather then a super charger. The S/C draws too much power from the engine, no? With a little 4 banger in there, it may take just as long if not longer to get up and go then it would with the turbo and the lag. At least with the turbo, your not pulling any power off the motor.

Any thoughts?

Default Test Drive

Too bad about the insurance, yes we can still demo the car to you , I just would have to drive but that's no problem. I'd be more than happy to show you the car and try to answer any questions you might have. If you want to set a time to come in please feel free to Pm me, email me (listed on my profile), or you could also call me at the dealership (the number is listed below) or my cell 301-752-0060. I do have a meeting at the Dealership from 9am till about 11am but after that my day's fairly free. If you just walk into our dealership and ask for me, don't worry I will be found. Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you.
