Default Invisiable:Man xB

Hey everyone,

I realize this is only my second post but I did a feature on a really cool xB that I thought you guys might like. It just went live on C16's Virtual Mag.

It's a rally-style xB designed by the creator of the Invisible:Man street wear line and built by Gary Castillo from Designcraft.

Yeah you do have to register to view the virtual mag but they DO NOT....I repeat DO NOT spam your email.

Anyway check it out if you have a few minutes. It's at www.c16mag.com Just click the flash animation or the "download C16 free" yellow link at the top.

Here is a teaser pic..

lol, i've seen one too many people think the xB is actually a truck. it's hilarious. from people TOWING things with their xBs, to making them offroad vehicles, it's absolutely ridiculous.

not they they're comparable, but would you put a tow hook on a civic sedan? how about an off road / rally civic sedan? to me, size wize AND USE WISE - it's equivalent. so if an off-road civic sedan wouldn't look/be right, then what makes the xB right for the same role?

Was the Chevrolet Caprice made to be lifted 20"??? And be fitted with 26-30" wheels???

People get creative... what's to stop them from doing something different?

I give that xB a HUGEEE thumbs up. Talk about thinking outside the box.

::EDIT::

The "article" sucks. They say nothing about the car. It's just an interview with the designer...

Ouch!

Well as a writer I figure Im going to get critizisim.

The reason why its an interview with the designer is because the style of C16 is more about the people within the scene. Don't get me wrong we love cars too.

But every single magazine out there (and there are a lot right now) basically does their features the same way. A spec rundown of the car but with whitty quips and remarks inbetween...or they'll come up with ellaborate ways to mention a turbo charger.

That's cool and all. I mean, I've done that too when I wrote for others but C16 doesn't want to do more of the same so we focus on the people.

There's a reason for that too. It's because that a good chunk of feature worthy cars...dont have a story behind them. I'd say at least 70-80% of the top tier show cars that get ink are built by dudes who just had a lot of money or saved up a lot of money and went shopping for what they wanted on the car. More power to them because anyone of us would probably do the same thing if we saved enough or made enough money.

So while we respect that, we try to find cars that have a little bit more behind their creation.

It's hard to find but sometimes we get pretty good ones.

For example, we did a feature on an old school Mini that was completely custom fabricated. Widebody, Cage, H22A motor...and it was all done custom by the owner himself.

He spent thousands of hours building the car himself and as a result gave up TV and all other "draining" activities and distractions. We thought that was pretty freakin cool and if that same car was featured in another book they probably wouldn't have mentioned all that.

I know Im ranting on and on...so I should say that Im not really trying to change your opinion....just explaining why we do things the way that we do.

Im glad you like the way the car looks though and that you took the time to check it out!

Thanks!

I'm sorry Andyz. It was in no way an attack to you or your writing. I just feel that a "car" magazine should be about the car. Hell, I read the whole interview!! hehe It was cool to read about the creator and his background. But when you see a car such as that, you want to get some info on the build and parts, etc.

I'm sorry if it sounded like a personal attack on you (or your writing).

People do what they like man. The guy lifting an xB might look at someone else's and ask why it looks fast when it isn't. To both guys thier box looks good, so that's all that matters. We saw the dude from Alaska using his xB rally style, and a few people have said they use it to tow stuff, so if it works and you like it, why not do it?

Nothin to be sorry for dude. You had an opinion and you expressed it. That's what forums are for. I wasn't actually offended or anything when I said "ouch" I was just messin around.

I feel where you are coming from though as far as not writing about the car itself.

To be honest with you we meant to have a side-bar in that article with Gary from designcraft about the build but we weren't able to get a hold of him in time.

Maybe in the future we'll try to possibly reach some type of balance between stuff about the car and about the owner.

Well, I dont take back what I said about the article about the CAR sucking. There is NO article on the car... hehe

Usually, I see a car in a mag and I wanna read about the car. I'm not necessarily interested in the life of the designer or builder. Hell, the reason I registered was to read about the suspension and if any mods were done to the engine and what they were. I was disappointed in that aspect... but I did enjoy the photos.

That sidebar would have been great in the spread. But w/e... it's cool man. Thanks for showing it to us!!
