Default Smell coming from engine '08 TC

I've only had my '08 TC for a little over a week now but I started noticing that the engine gives off a weird smell after every drive - no matter how short, or, long of a distance - like it's burning under the hood. Is this normal? I've driven new cars before but never noticed any smell. Also, my breaks seem sorta stiff. Any '08 TC owners have the same problem? I've been very gentle with the car.

Help?

this must be your first new car, its normal.

the smells are just the "preservatives" and oils breaking in and burning off, if its still there after a month or so then you have problems.

^x6 I thought I couldn't drive a manual right for a moment and I don't rest my foot on the clutch(everyone asked that). The smells gone now had the car for three weeks but have noticed the exhaust has a little rumble sound to it(still factory for now).
