I was at my dealer last week just to check and see if the supercharger was still coming out in November. My guy told me that the scion district head just was there for a meeting and he told them that the supercharger has been pushed back again now it will not come out until Jan '05 . More time to save up your pennies! They also have a ballpark price ~$3500 installed.

 

i just read an ad in maxim that says it should be under 4k installed and it seems like they are about to drop it, after putting it in an ad like that. ...

 

They should drop the price a lot for holding the release back so long...

 

Obviously this is why I did NOT opt for the supercharger upgrade.

I knew it would never be out in November. It takes almost a full year to have something like a SC or a TC go through production w/o getting any bugs.


TURBO for me

 

so you got 160hp, what does the supercharger take the tc to?

 

according to trd sources it adds 40hp ... their target is a total of 200 hp (flywheel)

 

dammit...$3500 for 40 more horses? thats not very much gain for an sc. i bet TRD knows they can get away with a low boosting SC because people like me will get it anyway, rather than blowing their warranties on a TC

 

I think 40 HP is all they can get out of it without blowing up the lower half of the engine. Sure you could get 80hp out of it but your engine won’t last very long.

 

Actually toyota's have some of the strongest bottom ends available I've seen a program on the spped channel where they took the celica gts motor changed the rods did a little head work and added a turbo and were running over 600 h/p they also did the same with a 2.7 tacoma motor and got over a 1,000 h/p

Time for a little education here Chris. The bottom end of an engine consist of the crank and RODS. The little show you were watching replaced the parts that come apart in the bottom end, THE RODS. In addition you are speaking of a completely diff eng with completely different specs and tolerances, Toyota does not have very strong bottom ends that’s why they had to replace the rods genius , talk to any Land Cruiser owners that put the SC TRD used to offer and you will find that many of there bottom ends came apart, that is why it is not offered any more. Too much boo st = blown bottom end.

haven't you guys seen the scion speed turbo.. try 350+ whp on the stock motor

 

Wow, that thing is pretty bad ___, 12 sec quarter miles. Bet the “stock” engine won’t last another 2000 miles. I think I would go for that over the SC. Very impressive!!!!!!!

 

Stage 1 - 230whp to 260whp = $$2900.00
Stage 2 - 260whp to 287whp = $$3600.00
Stage 3 - 315whp to 375whp = $$5550.00
