Default TPMS Maint Reqd light on 07 tC

Anyone have their "MAINT REQD" light come on in a 2007 model? I know there are battery powered sensors connected to the valve stems in each wheel (new for 2007), and if you rotate the tires the system has to be reset via the button in the glove compartment. But my tire pressure is good, I haven't removed any tires, and I tried resetting the system, but the MAINT REQD still comes on every time I start the car. Anyone experience anything similar? I wonder if one of the sensors is broken, or if a battery died (I expected the batteries to last about five years)?

Are you talking about the Maintenace Required light that comes on when you need an oil change or the Tire Pressure light that comes on when one of the sensors in any of the four wheels senses a change in tire pressure?

My Tire Pressure light (which has the symbol like the reset button in the glove box) comes on in the mornings because its cold and the tire pressure is different. It goes away by the afternoon.

If you are talking about your Tire Pressure light and not the Maintenace Required light (cause they are two different lights), then get a tire pressure gauge and check how much air is in your tires compared to what is supposed to be their according to your manual.

If all else fails, take it to the dealer and say Whadafuxup?

"Maint Req'd" is not for the TPMS. The TPMS light looks like "(_!_)"

some of the things that may trip a "maint req'd" light are the following:

loose gas cap
oil change due

if you recently got your car serviced at the dealership, chances are they did not reset the reminder. when I got my first oil change done at 1.3k miles the dealership didn't reset it so I got the light earlier than I should have.

if this isn't the problem then the only other thing I can recommend off of the top of my head is to take it to Toyo and say "it broken...fix please."

Interesting, the "MAINT REQD" light is right next to the TPMS, so I thought they were related. In 4,500 miles I've had two oil changes, but I've done them myself. Anyone know how the reset is performed?

(this procedure is also listed in the tC owner's manual, pg. 96)

actually neither.

loose gas cap will give you a nice bright CEL....
and as far as oil change due.. it doesn't know anything about the oil condition at all...

however it is a tool only to remind you by counting how many miles since it was last reset... and proper usage of it is to reset it every time you do an oil change.

yeah, my bust on the gas cap thing, but yeah it's tied into the oil change reminder. I was frantically typing that out at work in a rush because several people were about to enter the office and I needed to look busy, but not have "leisurely" things on my work computer.
