All in all I'm pretty stoked. We've had an 07 Yaris and an 05 xA and a 04 Matrix and a 00 Echo in the past so I'm pretty darn pleased. I did trade in an 07 5.7 Tundra for it so the loss in power was poignant, but the gas mileage should more than make up for it.
The Inerior room and comfort is excellent, and it has tons of cool gizmos and gadgets to keep me busy when stuck in traffic. (which here in Houston is pretty much twice a day when going to and from work at a minimum)
I was also very favorably impressed with the handling. HUGE step up from the xA IMO. Turning radius isn't quite as tight as I expected, but the car is great for darting in and out of small holes in traffic and it handles high speed cornering with surprising aplomb so I forgive it for that minor foible.
Hmm. That bumper protector... Did it come with the car? I ordered one couple of weeks ago and it had a SCION word in the bottom left corner - yours doesn't. I wonder if it was just a dealer's impromptu initiative.
Really nice looking. Thanx for the pix!
Question: The 16" alloys on your car, the dealer had them in stock??
Mine have been on backorder for a month..........:-(

Yep - it was port installed. Texas is in a region called GST and they seem to do a lot of their own accessories. The wheels are Enekeis and were also installed at the port.

Those alloys look just like the ones in the xD sales brochure, and are the first I've seen on anyone's car. THey look really great on your car. I hope it means mine may be coming soon.
I like the car quite a bit more than I did when I got it. I don't know if it was an ECU learning thing, the colder weather, or the engine breaking in, but it is WAY peppier than when I first got it. I've actually beat a few cars off the line and I don't hesitate to take an open lane knowing I will probably get out ahead of the average guy now. (Not because the xD is faster per se, but because most people don't leave a stoplight at WOT)
We've had the car on a 2100 mile round trip road trip for Xmas with 2 adults, 2 kids in carseats and a rediculous amount of luggage and I was VERY pleased to note that acceleration and braking did not seem to suffer noticeably from the extra load. It did take a bit of creativity to fit everything we wanted to bring though. We're averaging about 27-28 MPG which is pretty damn good considering the way I drive and the average cruising speeds of about 80-85 MPH.
Anyways another road trip to Florida is in store for 2 weeks from now. This time we're looking at about 2600 miles total. We'll see how it goes.
Cliff notes - very pleased with the car, its picked up some nice power and is quite fun to drive.
