Good thing someone knows ... i learned something new today. Although i will say, that is stupid to ahave the light come on for something as little as having your oil changed. Good way for dealers to get more money

some of the new GM vehicles will turn on the MIL just for leaving the gas cap loose... and then you go to the dealer and they charge you $60 to clear the code
does anyone know the actual MILEDGE before it trips again? the matienece light that is.. mine went off at 5000 miles exactly almost.
IIRC, (and I'm speculating because it's been a while since I read the manual) the light will flash momentarily every startup after 5000 miles, then come on continuously at 7500 miles to remind the really brain-dead that it might be a good idea to change the remaining sludge.
Noy maint reqd light comes on. I got my oil changed less than a month ago. Is there aything I should check before I take it in?

George <--whose MAINT REQD light started flashing despite having the car in for service 1500 miles ago. So much for conscientous dealer service...
beleive it or not, Im 99% sure that if you go before the light comes on- theres no way to keep it from coming on at the 5k or 7.5k marks---- so if u get your oil changed at dealer at 14,999 its still gonna come on at 15k for the "2nd" service... Not the techs at the dealers fault- blame the engineers who designed those stupid things, or the idiot that forgot to change their oil for 80k miles and blew an engine and blamed toyota.

The jerkoffs at Dublin Toyota pulled this with me on my Echo, but rather than warranting it or being cool about it, the LIED and CLAIMED my gas cap was MISSING :
The Echo gas cap is set up like the xB, tethered and the door only pops from the inside. Someone please tell me how the gas cap and tether disappeared from inside the gas door? There's no way I closed the flap with the tethered cap hanging out, it flops all around, I'm not that big of an idiot... No signs of scuffing around the edges or forced entry - besides, who's gonna midnight auto supply a gas cap?
So they charged me an hour's labor and 15-20 for a new cap - $97.00 - just below the $100 estimate that they had me sign in case it wasn't a covered repair. They got as much as they could without going over and possibly tipping their hand to the BAR. The service manager even taunted me when I told him I was going to report him to the BAR - "You want the number? here, let me give you the number"
So I hope they spent that $100 bucks wisely, cuz I will never give them ANY business and I warn everyone that will listen DON'T GO TO DUBLIN TOYOTA.
I won't even go into the crap they pulled when I leased the thing in the first place. They would've made their money back on my xB, but they blew it...
I snuck in just to test drive an xB cuz its the closest to my house, no intention of buying from those a*&Holes. The N00B salesman couldn't take me on a test drive cuz he wasn't Scion certified, but STILL asked "If we made you a good deal would you take it home today?" I said "Are you gonna give a a deal good enough that I would buy a new model car without driving it???" _____, Please...
