Default SL...I JUST HIT A ANOTHER CAR!!!

Whats going on?

Let me get straight to the point. Im driving home and I pull up behind this coffee truck at a red light. Suddenly, he pulls off as the light turns green, so i pull off behind him. Next thing you know, he stops SHORT and I swerve to avoid hitting him and I clipped my side mirror a little. Nothing big right? Wrong!! When i got home about an hour later, I notice a big dent/scratches on my left fender and my side mirror is hanging just a little. I don't know what to do. Should I fill out a police report and tell what really happen. or bend the truth a little bit and say I was a store or something and some body hit my car?

The reason i didn't stop is because i thought i just clipped my side mirror and didnt think nothing of it. What are my options? Anybody been in this situation before?

Just pay to get it fixed. All in all your fault and you do NOT want to put that on insurance unless you want to pay for it 50x over.

You should always leave enough distance between you and a car in front of you to stop in any situation. I am very sorry about what happend. Sucks big time

i say bend the truth because if you say you noticed when you get home the cops are more then likely gonna say that you hit and run, and that could mean big trouble for you, i would go to a shopping center parking lot or something that doesnt have cameras and go in look around ten come out and call the cops, if you want to get it fixed for free the insurance is gonna need a police report, more then likely. thats what i would do. just my $.02

Since it's your fault, just pay for it and be done with it. Don't raise my insurance rates by filing a false claim.
(They have gone up because of [possibly] people like you who abuse the system.)
You hit ANOTHER car? Maybe its time to take the bus or ride a bike. j/k

I am an Insurance Agent. Please do not commit Insurance Fraud as it is a felony. Just my .02, if you need to use your insurance, tell them what happened for real.

lying to the cops or insurance is usually not a good option. the cops are usually smart enough to figure it out and now you have a fasle report on your hands.
and insurance doesn't do too well when they find that you lied to them either.

get the damage fixed yourself. it'll be pricey though i'm sure, but cheaper and less headache in the long run. sucks having to keep up a lie. remember you have to tell the same story the same way every time.

I agree with the person who said you could be charged with a hit and run. I would write it off as a loss and pay for it.

Honestly, this might be your time to add a new front end or something sweet dude.. There is a mpower front end buy going on right now. Might as well throw something new on there while your fender is gettting painted.
Just something to think about..

x2, but need pics to see what all is messed up (aside from the mirror.

1g is pricey in terms of not too many people have a thou that they can just hand over no problems. some would have to save, me personally i'd have to move some funds around or put it on the ol' credit card. i didn't mean that he/she overquoted you.

he's talking about the post above the guy that's above you.

but i find it scary that you're 27 and thought about filing a false claim AND commiting insurance fraud.

your info to the right says 27, and still 23....
i'm not calling you stuid, but just think about it was it really a good idea to post this. not to mention if you posted this and by a stroke of luck the same cop that took down your info, or an insurance agent read this and had your IP address traced back to you. yeah it would take time, but when it hit you....oh how s#!t rolls down hill.
