I have had my xB2 a little over a month now. I have noticed that it takes a lot more brake pedal pressure to make it stop than my old Mazda 626 with manual brakes and other cars I have owned. I am just wondering if I install Goodrich stainless steel brake lines if I will notice a difference in the amount of pedal pressure needed to stop the car? Does anyone have any first hand experience with changing over to SS brake lines that can give me some insight into what I can expect by changing to SS. Any other thoughts on lowering the amount of pedal pressure needed? I have also thought about changing to a little more aggressive brake pads like the EBC green pads.

Your not the only one, I've noticed it too & its usually making me have to downshift to slow it down. (compared to my g/f 06 Altima, that thing stops on the dime).

I would believe that upgrading to SS brake lines would make a noticeable improvement over stock since they won't expand like the rubber ones. I think I might first upgrade the brake pads to see if that helps since its an easier job than changing the lines.

 

Brake with your left foot a couple of times and then use your right foot again. See if the pedal difference is still there. A lot of times we just get used to the new pads we forget that they get broken in over time. The ABS doesn't help either since it's supposed to give you a soft pedal for braking. Just give it a try and see what happens.

 

I have 5500 miles on the car now and have not noticed and real difference from when new. The first few times I came to a traffic light and had to stop it scared the hell out of me. I was use to stopping when I applied the brake. With this car it takes an abnormal amount of brake pedal pressure to make it stop. I am sure it will stop fine in an emergence with the 4 wheel disc brakes and 4 wheel ABS but normal braking is not very good. I am familiar with breaking in new pads and that some take longer than others. I also know some brake pads don't work well when cold. Other ABS cars I have driven did not have this problem. I would like to hear from other xB2 owners about your braking experiences.

I will tell you what, I was SUPER impressed with the braking ability the other day.

I find the brake just fine in general, but on the freeway the other day I really tested out the brake assist... Some car slammed their brakes in front of me and I slammed on my brake pedal and felt the brake assist come in and supply the extra braking power. It was insane as I never have felt a car stop like that.

In general driving it may feel like it may need some pressure, but when you NEED the power, it sure gives it. No worries thats for sure
