Default The Curse continues

Today while driving on the left lane of a two lane road, I got side swiped by an 18 wheeler. I was on the left lane and saw the 18 wheeler on the right lane. I was passing on by and passed his back bumper when I saw him signaling left. I was thinking Oh crap, I hope he sees me. I tried to speed up but he continued on turning into my lane to fast so I turned left into the grass and braked. The car got a little squirly and my rear went back on the road and hit his rear tire. Now I have a messed up back fender and scraped up rear bumper. Went to get an estimate $3k. My poor baby. Not even 3500 miles. Damnit!

The worst part the driver didn't even stop I had to follow him for another 6 miles to Home Depot where he was delivering stuff. I stopped my car and was like did you know you even hit me. He was like no and tried to blame it on me. Lucky a witness behind me which saw everything was kind enough to follow me and the 18 wheeler. If not for him I would have no proof.

So you were next to his REAR bumper, and saw him coming over and decided to speed up? The decision to speed up or hit the brakes is 50/50 and you blew it. Did you use the horn to make sure he knew you were there?

Still his fault, but it sounds like you could have made some better choices.

Glad you're OK. It could have been a lot worse... Don't listen to anyone who says it's ur fault or talks ****... When faced with an intense situation no one will behave the same way!

Well he was blinking left when I passed his rear bumper. I thought he saw me and was just letting people know he wanted to turn left. But by the time he actually turned I was 1/2 by his trailer at the speed I was traveling at. When I tried to speed up I was trapped cause when he turned and the front of his semi angled me in so thats when I tried to brake and turn in the grass.

That is bad luck. Glad nobody was hurt. I have the same problem in Virginia on I81 which has a million of 18 wheelers. All you can do is pray one you pass one and they are passing you.

glad your ok, but it does sound like it was your fault. I probably would have reacted the same way in that situation, but you could have always slowed down
