Default "Japan Toyota Arm Rest" Anyone?

I saw this link in another thread, and ran a search but found nothing here.

With SO much talk about how badly the xA needs an arm rest, has anyone tried this one:

http://www.newscionparts.com/product/?id=1061

it *looks* like it would be pretty solid, but there is VERY little info on that web page... not even a picture to show how badly it blocks the e-break... or if there are different colors... etc. My question - has anyone used this? I'd be willling to pay the $$ for something that appears to be that nice... but i'm just kinda unsure about something that has so little info.

thanks,
~jonathan

Default Another arm rest, better pictures

Hi,

You might want to look at this also,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

This company has a web store also if you don't buy it off ebay.

yeah... that is what i thought, too... but if you compair the two pictures, the 2nd actually sticks out further past the seatbelt than the first. These pictures are somewhat deceiving... that is why i was asking for someone with some experience. To me, they actuallly look like they could be the *same* unit!

Toyota will fix this problem in January, if you can wait. They have been developing one which would match the fabric and reatin the cup holder for the rear occupants. i saw a mock up-it looks pretty cool-just a little late IMO.

The JDM is really too low o be an armrest. Even we asians find it too low.. I think it doesnt really ft most of u. Besides that, the texture is leather which doesnt match our rides. The other one looks like a better investment to me..

I just got my armrest today. It's a genuine Toyota part. From looking at the instructions it appears the armrest will fit both USM xA & xB. The installation involves drilling two holes in the rear square storage area or cup holder and attaching a metal plate to it. The armrest is then secured to that plate.

Oh and yes it is situated pretty low and back, but it does not block the e brake.

Do you have pictures? How difficult was the installation process?

Default Boomerang Armrest

You may also want to check out the Boomerang Armrest.

The Boomerang armrest has the most factory look and construction of any of the Scion armrests available. It is a completely injection molded unit. It does not interfere with the brake and mounts in the rear cup holder. It is extremely stable because we manufacture 2 ABS supports that simply slide onto the bottom of the factory center console. Where other armrests are only an armrest, ours includes much needed additional storage and comes with a 32 disc CD case that is custom built for the unit by Case Logic. We offer a 3 year warranty and 100% guaranteed satisfaction. Boomerang manufactures automotive accessories on an OE (original equipment) level for companies such as the Land Rover division of Ford Motor Company with armrests and other products. This is why we were able to engineer and develop a Scion armrest that we feel is superior to everything currently available. We are very excited about the enormous amount of positive response we have received from the Scion Life Community since we launched this product and know that everyone who purchases one of our armrests will agree that the Boomerang Armrest is "The Perfect Scion Armrest."

Please feel free to contact us if you have any additional questions. For more info you can also check out our web site at www.scionarmrest.com.

What company/website did you purchase it from? Was the company overseas? I recall you saying it was coming from HK.

I had a friend bid on an yahoo auction in HK. The shipping costs $30 while the armrest only costs $60.

Thanks for the info, Chris. I tell ya what....if you'd be willing to send me one (at no charge), I'd be happy to give it a full, non-biased review both on here, and on epinions.com. I would install it according to the provided instructions, and give it two weeks of real-world use before writting my reviews. Interested?
