Default window tinting?!? do i dare?

damn...my bro just got tinting on his evo for $100. my tc would be $90 for rear and side windows. hmm...i am seriously debating this now. what do you all think? i know the side windows are illegal, but they will be 20% and both my bro and my best friend have it. hmm...hmm...hmm...

As long as you don't have Presidential black I don't think it should be a problem. I don't think a cop is going to stop you because you have your windows tinted unless they can't see you. Most piggies love speeders!

Damn, sucks to live in the northeast. Cops don't care about being able to see in your car down here.

same exact situation here in florida. i've known friends who were stopped and a light meter was put onto her window to test it.

I have limo all the way around, and 15% on the front windshield and the tint makes the car look 10000x better. I have never been stopped by the cops and have actualy been complimented on the tint by an poilice officer that works at my school. Check the pics below.

It's not that big a deal. Just check your state limitations.

Wow Tampa, you have your entire windshield tinted? That's uber illegal, lucky here in Tampa cops probably won't bother you, but get pulled over for any other reason, and I'd be surprised they don't ticket you for that.

It does look sweet but can you see out of that thing? I bet backing up at night is a pain in the ___. Anyway I wouldn't try that in Cali, I'd roll out of the tint shop and 5 Highway Patrol cruisers would pull up on me at once. Babylon don't play.

at least in colorado, and in other states that i know of, there is some legal limit. most tinters will go beyond that limit though. i don't want any hassles from cops so i got mine done at the legal limit. you can see pics at the link below...i think tint makes the car look better, regardless of what color your car is.

oh and fwiw, i haven't had any screeching problems or anything else from my tint job like others have described on here. just look for a tinter who does a good job and you should be fine.

Check that for your state laws. Don't know how up to date it is. I've had limo on my corolla here in KY and never really had a problem. And I've been stopped a few times. Just flip the dome light on and get those windows down before he gets to the car.

Litte newb question here, but doesnt 10% mean that only 10% of the light is getting through? wouldn't that make night driving pretty hard? 10% doesnt sound like a whole lot of light to drive with.
