Default I went to the S.F Auto Show and got my Xa stolen!!

last night i went to the S.F. International Auto Show..it was pretty cool and the SCION booth was cool... there was this really cool TC there and I got a free Scion beanie...The auto show got me excited to own my scion but as when i left the show I found broken glass and a different car in the spot where i parked my Xa( 4th and Harrison)...kinda suck..actually it really sucks..I started to really like the car...i just put on my kit last week too. Heres a pic of it ...

Dude, it's the Mission district. I wouldn't park my own bowel movements out there, let alone my car. . . really sucks and I feel for ya. If you are ever in the area again, I strongly advice AGAINST parking on the street, but instead go for the Metreo Garage, on Mission and 3rd. It's not too terribly expensive, and it's a helluva lot safer than anywhere else in the SOMA.

When you get your car back, or the one you get to replace it, definately get a Vehicle Recovery System installed as well as an alarm... LoJack is probably the wisest investment you could get on any new or exclusive vehicle!

Good Luck anyways!

On the topic of alarms, I specifically avoided the overpriced $500 Scion door opener so I could get my a better aftermarket alarm. After hearing your story, I feel a bit more comfortable about paying the $600 for my Clifford Matrix alarm. It also has an option to get vehical tracking by putting a GPS system on the car and you can track at any time via the internet. Good for vehical theft tracking, but also to track the kids when they take your car. A $200 added option that I balked on (after already putting $600) that included a monthly fee. I was considering this as instead of Lo-Jak, but didn't do any of it since the car really isn't that expensive and shouldn't be as hot an item in the black market. I guess I'm wrong... I'm going to be considering these options now though.

phantomxa, I never really thought the area was all that bad either. I'm surpised somebody would try and steal your car. Sorry to hear what happened and I truely feel for you and feel your pain as I've had a theft in the past. Best of luck.

Something I have learned from the "good areas" around where I live is that its not the area that matters its the not so good people that follow you to that "good area"! Also, to anyone with an xA, especially the RS 1.0, the wheels will also fit most other imports with the 4 lug pattern. Thus, even though the cars are relatively new, they are still hot for their parts... i.e. radio, speakers, subwoofers, even suspension mods
The profesional thieves out there are well on top of things, they watch the same commercials we do and know what our cars came with stock and all the available options that are easily added from the dealer. So they are well aware of what they can score form one of them.

Just adding my $0.02

I have an alarm on my xa that pages me with in a 1/4 mile, great at movie theaters..
its not the most expensive or the cheapest, it can cost you more to install it than the alarm it self
the name is astra 777

Sounds similar to what i have. 2 way "paging" communication feature. w/remote start, doors, and other bells and whistles.

Yeah, it's one of the worst areas of sf! You are basically surrounded by two giant ghettos, the mission district (where all the bums moved in after the tech boom fell apart) and the tenderloin (long standing drug and gang center). They built the sony metreon there, and its a huge target for car thieves as the rice crowd is very prevalent in that area. Secondly there is the nightlife area on harrison and howard streets which is prime area for muggings, stabbings, and the like. . . That area blows, so always go for the metreon garage on 3rd and mission (relatively BETTER but not good security). When going there, especially at night, I always pack at least two pepper spray canisters a couple fast open (legal) knives, and a kubaton (legal, used to crack heads open). I don't ever invite trouble and avoid it at all costs, but I've used all of the above mentioned weapons, and everytime it has been in that particular area of sf.
