Default What first impressions did you get with your xB?

I just got my Black Cheery xB today and had to drive it through a nasty winter storm to get it home. I didn't get to enjoy a leisurely ride home but I was impressed at the way this car held to the road despite all the ice and water and the high winds. I never once felt that I'd lose control or traction. Conditions were pretty bad too. I also liked the good illumination the headlamps gave me of the road ahead.

That is my very first impression of this car. I'd be interested in hearing your own first impressions during your first ride in your xB.

I loved the first drive in my xB. I got mine back in Feb when they first got to the east coast. Hardly anyone around here had even seen one yet.

I remember on my ride home a bunch of kids in a Civic passed me on the highway and they all gave me thumbs up. Everyone was breaking their neck looking at the car, too. It was cool.

I moved into this from a Cavalier, so I was ecstatic about the quality of everything from the get go.

Yeah I almost forgot...after the storm slowed down some I took my mom shopping and began to notice that this car was turning lots of heads. I live in a pretty mundane and conservative neighborhood so it's not suprising that this car would stick out. Two rough looking dudes came out of a gas station and were almost bumping into each other because their heads were turned toward my xB. One of them bent closer to my grille to read the emblem. My mom, who had jumped out to get something in the store, said she heard the guy say he has to get one of these.

I'm almost afraid to drive this car to work; my co-workers are sure to razz me good for having such a "different" car.

My first impression after I got the xB was Bill Clinton...."I did not have sex with that woman..."

Oh, you don't me that kind of impression....

I drove mine at night for the test drive, and the thing that got me, was the lack of light in front of the steering wheel from the speedo. You know what I mean? That took about 20 minutes to get used to, not looking in front of the wheel for the speed.

When I drove it home the next day, it was raining, and I was impressed with the handling.

Then the stares came. You know. THE STARE. Yeah. I still like that.

My first impression was at an auto show in 2003. I had never even heard of Scion. As I strolled through one display of nice looking sleek cars after another they all seemed to just melt together in their sameness. Then out of the corner of my eye: SQUARE LINES! WHAT IS THAT???!! I had to run over and look. My wife HATED it, the kids went nuts.
We went over every inch of that thing. The kids wanted one so bad.

I had totally forgetten about the box until the next year, this past May, when my minivan began breaking down for the gazillionth time (Kia junk). To make a long story short I pulled into a Toyota dealer and traded the junk in on the spot. I saw the box and HAD to have it.

First drive was a noticeable difference in quality in everything over the Kia crap. I was in love.

Yeah I had the same experience. There was a moment of despair when I thought the instrument cluster went dead...but then I remembered there is nothing there behind the steering wheel. It'll take some getting used to.

It didn't take me long to get used to the speedo. I like it more than the traditional location. Right there in my line of vision to the road.

To be totally honest, the first xB I had seen was in a Sams Club parking lot about a year ago,and I was like WTF is that????I looked it over and I was like well ok..........That image stuck in my mind for awhile, then saw some commercials and sparked my interest again, found a dealer, brought a brochure home, went to Scion.com and bought me one!!!!I truly love the car, even the Wife thinks it's great!!!She keeps stealing my xB to do the shopping now LOL

Oh I agree...I love the position of the speedo up there. What I was saying is that I'm just used to there being light coming from behind the steering wheel, and with it all dark down there the "atmosphere" seems out of kilter. I'm at the end of my second day driving my xB and I think I'm used to that part already.

(I also love the little cubby hole just under the mirror control button...it's perfect for keeping my cell phone handy without sliding around or dropping to the floor, just perfect!)

I've had mine for 2 days now, and tonight is the first time I'll drive it at night. What I noticed first is that it seemed bigger and I could not judge where the edge of the passenger side was. I pulled up to the curb just after I bought it, got out and looked, and I was like 6 feet from the curb. I went back and reparked it-------red face and all !!

My first impression, man, you can get lost in here!

I have had nothing but stares, it helps that i drive a RS1, it tends to stick out from the rest of the cars out there. The greys, blacks, silvers, and the blues.

The first impression i got when i sat in one at glendale toyota was that "Have a rave in the xB including disco ball" the damn thing was so spacious inside. I liked the open feeling. The toaster had to be mine.

"what is that thing" and "that thing is sooo ugly" was all i heard when i first got it.

Just yesterday I got another impression: when parked next to a big Dodge van and an Expedition the box looks really small...

But it doesn't feel small when I'm in it!

You are so right, it feels so open and free in there.
