Bought my XB there last year "Certified" with 32K on it. I was told the 30K service was done. I just put in some Irridium spark plugs and it was obvious the original plugs were never changed like they should have been as part of the service. They were in nasty shape, and i've only put 12K on it. I was also told the front brakes were replaced, but now i'm gonna be doubting that, and everything else that was supposed to be checked/replaced. Sorry, just wanted to get that off my chest.
sux.....even if it was done already i would have told them to do it just so you can be assured that your buying a quality used toyota....thats what i did when i bought my xb @ renton toyota

I bothers me cause I bought as the 08's were coming out and there was no new ones around. So i paid more than an 08' would have cost for a used one cause i really wanted a 1st Gen.

Did you get any of the maintence "Certification" in writing? If so I would take it back and make them check the brakes and show them the plugs and see what they say...sorry to hear you got a little of the shaft...
Sorry to hear about your experience. The certification is worth $1,500 to $2,000. All I can say is buyer beware. The salespeople are out to make money, some are more honest than others. All of them will do almost anything to get a sale. I don’t think you can fault the dealership in this case it sounds like you hade a shady sales person. All used cars are questionable in my opinion.
I have been to Burien Toyota/Scion several times and always rent cars from their Toyota rent a car service. There are a lot of good people there. I did have some issues with their body shop, but that is typical of all body shops I have used.

Oh yeah, i know salespeople pretty well. My brother is the used car manger at another Toyota/Scion dealer. In fact he got his start at Burien Toyota about 15 years ago, and there was still a couple people that worked with him there. So i felt pretty comfortable I guess. I did get jerked around by their service department though right after i bought it. the first big rain after getting it, i discovered the windshield leaked. took it in, they balked at covering it, but sent it out to get fixed. got it back, still leaked. took it in again, they sent it out again to get fixed. got it back, still leaked. at that point, i demanded a new windshield. they balked again, but said they'd replace it. So, took it in again, they had it changed. Oh boy, still leaked, but in a different spot this time. I figured out where the problem was and sealed it up myself. I had enough of leaving work early to take it in, going and getting a rental, etc. Not to mention i picked it up with a fresh door ding! So I don't have a very good taste in my mouth about that place. That's why i am hesitant to take it back and have them check out the service, or lack of.
unfortunatly theres quite a few shady dealers out there who just slap a "CPO" tag on a car and never inspect it or anything. its not just a toyota/scion thing, ive seen it happen with audi's, vw's, bmws,...
