wouldnt 10w-30 be better for hotter climats. Im a little curious about this too. Im looking for what is best (not brand) for my car when i turbo it. I dont want to burn oil all day long in 90 degree+ weather

it has been while, but i remember reading something about turbos that said you actually need to use natural motor oil for breaking in a turbo and now synthetic.

For just a new turbo doesn't matter. Any good synthetic will work. I would never use royal purple myself. Redline, Amsoil, Mobil 1 all good. If breaking in a motor I use Redline Break in oil.

I've seen evidence of breakdown on Royal purple. Mostly along bearing surfaces when taking a motor apart that used it. I think it is a bit thinner than what they rate it at.

Amsoil is no where near $17 a quart. It doesn't cost much more than any other good synthetic. I have the prefered customer account with them and get it at wholesale cost, so thats all i use!

Redline is probably the best stuff and is only $10 a quart. It is what I use.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Motul! I've had great success with their fluids.

Interested fact about the RP guru. I ran that a lot on my Scion and I loved it. Maybe due to being proactive about oil changes, I never saw the breakdown. I run either Mobile 1 or Motul on my cars now though. Love them.
