You know those annoying badges or decals with the dealer's name that they stick on most cars? (free advertising)
Well I was wondering if your Scion had those on it.
I don't like them. I don't mind having the license plate frames, but I don't want anything like that on my paint.
The dealer where I plan on getting my xB is great we've purchased 3 Toyotas from them before., I emailed them about it and here was their response:
Good to hear from you again! No problem- If you dont want a decal,
there won't be any.
It's a big deal because it will probably never touch my xB. Why would they put it on there if they're just gonna take it off? I want to let them know in advance.
I had my xB serviced by a dealership here in NH and when I came back to pick it up, they had changed the lic. plate frames and put a dealer sticker on my car. I was less than pleased that they had just decided to slap their name on my car. When I made mention of this they said that they needed to get some advertizing from my car since they would be selling them in Feb. I asked them not to do that again, and I was nice about it. MY whole thought at the time was a) They didn't sell me the car b) I'm paying them to service my car and c) They never asked, just did it
I won't say the name of the dealership because the bus. Mgr. Did help me get finaced and he had to do it completely free. The Guy really helped me out, but I won't bring it back to the service department.
Man I would have gone off on them and gotten a dig discount on the service. Advertising is not free... they need to pay you! That's just wrong man, they didnt even sell you the car. I can understand if you buy a car that is already on the lot, I mean they can put decals on THEIR car, but not mine or yours, you know?
Thats just wrong.
It was one of those metal decals, so it came off easy and as for the plate frames ... I got on the phone and called the dealership in sacramento (sp?) and they sent new ones out for me
thats wrong and not right he should have asked 1st
but thats a good thing you were nice about it (like the
shirt says mean people suck) althoughyou had the
right upset

Im a firm believer in word of mouth advertising. If the dealership treated me right, then i would be glad to tell everyone where i bought the car. If not, then i tell them to avoid the dealership at all costs.
I have removed all dealer badging from my cars ever since i could drive, theyre not paying me to advertise, and besides, it makes the car look cleaner.
Now if i took my car in for service, and they slapped on some dealer vinyl, i would raise hell! What gives them the right to advertise on your car ( even when you didnt purchase it there? ) That would be like owning a home, and some builder comes to your house during the day, and installs a couple of 4x4 post signs in your yard, because he builds a house that looks similar, and wants to get the word out. Unt-unh, aint happen.

hmmm, that must be a east coast dealer thing. Out here in CA, they dont put those little plaque things on the cars, just the license plate frames.

I drove by the dealer today, and I noticed that the type that they use are the ones that look like the each letter is independet of the others. It doesn't look crooked or anything, but it just looks like nothing is connecting one letter to the other and it looks like they are thin sticker like letters. So I'm guessing that if I let them know I don't want it, they will get me one BEFORE they put them on, because it would be a Bi*** to take them off. They have the license plate frames too, those I don't mind. They say ___ Toyota, I kinda wish they said ___ Scion.
Oh well, who knows what'll happen, because I'd really love to drive it home the day of the deal.
I just thought of something... Ok, all of the Demo Scions that I have seen recently has giant logos on them that advertise the dealer. And this is the xB that had the dealer decal on it. I've heard some of you say that dealers will "trade" Scions with each other and will pull from the same pool or something like that, so I hope that means that they won't put dealer decals on the ones that will be sold to the public
I know its an eastcoast thing, but I think it's just wrong to do that to a persons car.....unless they somehow compensate you for advertising for them......like free oil changes or something like that. Otherwise.....screw them!

Mine came with no dealer sticker at all. the license plate frames lasted until I got the car in my driveway.
Some dealers in Cal have a sticker that goes on the windshield along with the temporary registration, but that gets cleaned off pretty soon.
Here are the more obnoxious dealer ads that I have seen:
Dealer name inside the middle brake light. The owner never sees it but advertises the dealer every time they hit the brake.
Dealer name stamped into the metal of the rear bumper in four inch high letters. Mostly on Texas pickups.
Dealer name directly above manufacturer's name in the same font and size, this seems to be popular with Chevy dealers for some reason. Instead of just driving a Chevrolet, you're driving a "Penske Chevrolet."
Dealer name on mud flaps.
George <--If a dealer wants me to advertise, they need to make it worth my while!
theres a ford dealer here in so. cal that actually does that like instead of just ford they'll put the company name in the logo along with it
They put it inside the BLUE ford logo? And people still buy cars there? Geez. I really like my dealership, but if they had said "no" to my "no decal" question, then I would have told them I'd go elsewhere. What's just wrong.
im no fan of advertising license plate frames either (forget decals) but drew has some SWEET license plate frames that say EL CAJON on top and SCION of the bottom. Very classy for dealer frames. Something you would expect from a lexus store. So if i ever would sport frames it would be those!
