Did I destroy my car

I don't think so, but it hurt it a little. So, here's the story. I got my Tc on Tuesday. I've put about 400 miles on it already, I've been driving moderate, not hard or anything. But today, I was taking off from a stoplight, and I shifted from 2nd to 1st by accident, I was at about 3k in 2nd when I went back to first. Luckily, I caught it before commiting to that gear, and I got into 3rd. But, anyways, the engine is pretty strong, so I am hoping it didn't mess anything up. BRice

Oh ____, don't tell me you really did that! An engine that young isnt supposed to go through stresses like that. I'd go to a mechanic and see how much damage it actually did. Sorry to hear about that bro

Your gearshift wouldn't let you put it into 1st if it wasn't capable of handling it.
Your RPMs were at what, 5500, while it was in 1st gear for a moment?

It may have jerked you forward when you did it, but it won't affect your car. Don't worry, be happy :D

Yup it would've grinded like hell, but it wouldn't have went in .

yea i did that once when i first got the hang of MT, from second to first but in lower rpm. Yea my car still runs fine don't worry about it and make sure you don't do that again...cause 1st gear is never meant for you to downshift on.
