Default Just a note...Updated

Some of you may know that my wife Shirley had minor surgery a little over a week ago to take some lymph nodes from her pelvis for biopsy, well we got the results yesterday and they weren't good. They found that she has what they call low grade lymphoma, so the next step is to see how far along it is with more scans and maybe a bone marrow biopsy, which she is dreading, then probably treat it with chemo. Thats where we are right now, will keep everyone informed when we get more info. Please don't feel sorry for her, that is the last thing she wants, and I hope she doesn't come on here and read this or she will kick my butt, lol, I just needed to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening/reading.

wow rob I had no idea, I know the how she feels about not wanting people to feel bad for you, almost makes it worse. I had 2 scares with bad biopsy's and a couple rounds of surgery, tell her to keep her chin up and even though its scary keeping positive helps more than people know

Always a scary thing when they use the C word. I know the feeling. Let her know the bone marrow biopsy isn't that bad I had it done and it's not as bad as I thought it would be. She will be in our thoughts and prayers if that's ok with you.

Rob, you guys will be in my thoughts and prayers. And remember this, if it IS low grade lymphoma, the chances for recovery are very good. A very good friend of mine's wife had lymphoma, and it was caught early. While the treatment was No Picnic, she made 100% recovery, and as of right now, is 3 years post treatment, and still cancer free.

The treatments they have today are incredible.

Take care.

Thanks everyone, as redbeard said, it is very treatable, just have to wait and see what stage she is in before they go any further. She has been thru this before and is not looking forward to doing it again, but keeping her head up knowing that shes beat it before and she will do it again.

You are both in my thoughts.

If either of you need anything, you know how to reach me. I have lots of time on my hands right now. Happy to do anything I can...

Try to enjoy the holidays, and tell Shirley not to let it get her down. She will overcome.

I'm hopeful for good results and have lots of positive thoughts and wishes coming your family's way.

When does she get the results back from the additional scans?

If there is anything that we can do, please let us know!!!

CA, she doesn't go in for the next set of tests until the 12/31, should know more then. Again, thanks everyone for your thoughts.

Well, we had a busy week last week, drs. appts., CT scans, bone marrow biopsy, surgery to have a port put in her chest, echo of her heart, and a chemo class. Today was her first treatment and things didn't go to well. She had a reaction to one of the chemo drugs. They started out slow with it because it is the one you will have a reaction to, so they start it slow then bump it up a little every half hour. It would take 12 hrs to get it in her at the rate they started at. Well, a friend came over to sit and visit with her while I ran home and made sure the dogs hadn't distroyed the house, in that time Shirley had a reaction that they didn't expect, she quit breathing. They turned off the meds, flushed the lines with saline, had oxygen on her and shot her up with meds to counteract the reaction. By the time I got back everything was normal. She ended you haveing another reaction to the same drug later, but not as severe, just a bad itch, but they reacted fast and just turned the drug off. Now its going to take two days to get her meds in her, one day for the harsh drug at a slow dose and the next day will be a short one for the other two drugs. They say that the cancer causes the reaction, so the farther into the treatment the better it will be. Long day. Thats where we are now, looks like these treatments are going to be a challenge for a while.
