Toyota emerged as the best selling automotive brand in the U.S. in 2008 for the first time in history. Meanwhile, sales of new vehicles dropped to their lowest level since the early 1980s in December as carmakers finished up a terrible fourth quarter even as they used heavy incentives to move vehicles off dealer lots.

I guess the numbers at Autoblog ( http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/05/b...-over-edition/ ) are off, because they show Toyota was the number 1 "brand" last year. Maybe that included Scion.

HOPEFULLY THEY STAY ON TOP. CLOSING THE PLANTS FOR 11 DAYS SAYS A LOT OF THINGS. HOPE WE CAN STAY ON TOP AGAIN THIS YEAR. LETS GO TOYOTA.

^^^ The plant closing from what I've heard only affect Japan. Toyota maybe no 1 here but not throughout the world.
