A friend of mine had added the cost of the supercharger into his payment ($3000 it costs installed from the factory), it came in last month and the dealer wanted him to pay $1500 to have them install it. He didn't want to pay it, so he went to the dealer and picked up the supercharger , called me and told me he would sell it to me for $2000. I went, over and bought it from him. So now I have a supercharger! I will post pics as soon as I can. I am going to contact the dealership and see if I have them install it how it will effect my warrenty.

BTW the dealership that he got it from was Team Toyota in Langhorne, PA

 

Unless my math is wrong, your "friend" just made a quick $500 off you:

Installed price: $3000
Minus Installation price of $1500
Equals price of unit: $1500
You paid: $2000
Equals: Extra $500.

Of course, having the bragging rights might be worth it...

yea...he lost money, he is locked in with the 3k he paid for it (in his payments), he said the 3k price tag was supposed to be from factory (no install fee)... he didn't want to pay any more. He told me I can have it for 2k. I got a great deal.

Why didnt he just tell the dealer that the 3k they charged him already included the install. Who would give up 1k that easily?

 

stupidity perhaps, or the fact that his dealer tricked him, cause damn 1G is not easy to come by!!!!!

 

I would argue to hell and back, hopefully making the dealership just install it so I would stop picketing in front of their lot.

could be a dealer-specific charger, TRD's not even done with theirs yet, needs more R&D work, and if they've finished that needs to get CARB legal so the TRD one won't be out for a bit - I can see that kind of upgrade being port installed especially if he ordered the car with it if scion had access to the TRD charger - doesn't sound like every dealership knows how to install something like that, heck some dealerships barely know anything about the tC in the first place

I say he has a tC specific supercharger and not the TRD one, especially if the dealer wanted to charge an additional amount for installation, that's just not right

 

I dont think it is. Maybe it was the supercharger for the xa or xb. the tc supercharger is not out yet.

That's my point. He should have lost 1500. (Well, actually he shouldn't have lost anything at all, if the installed price was 3 grand and that's what he paid it should have been installed.)

the TRD supercharger comes out in April 2005
the Turbonetics turbo comes out in mid-2005
and the GReddy turbo comes out in mid-2005

So, i'm sorry but this can't be the TRD Supercharger, it's still in production
