I just installed a new weapon-R intake and now it seems like my throttle response is alittle delayed and now my "check engine" light is on what gives? does anyone know whats wrong? and how do I fix it?
Thanx!!

For the check engine light, one problem could be that the oxygen sensor wasn't put in it's place or is malfunctioning because of the install. I'm not an expert, but this could also be the reason of your delayed throttle response. With the sensor not working, it doesn't report the oxygen readings correctly; hence a bad air/fuel mix could be used as default. I've also heard someone mention that a "safe" air and fuel mix is used whenever the check engine light comes on to prevent damage.
just for reference... in my experience that "safe" mix is super lean and my engine was running way too hot. My exaust headers were glowing red hot (stock ones eeek) from a blown fuse from the dorks who installed my alarm improperly... Drove it for 2 days becuase they told me there was no problem and as soona s I left the lot I was like.. WOW where did all my power go? Then they couldnt get me in until a few days, and its still not fixded about a month later =X
Pardon my digression... Anyways -- don't drive it with that mix is my point, if you do, it might be good to do a compression check on all your cylinders afterwards... if your exaust gets that hot, you're sure your block is getting pretty warm too. I'm not a mechanic, but I think seals could burn up at those temps.
check your map sensor. It may have been left unplugged. Check all electrical connectors near the intake, check vacuum lines/ check hose clamps. After you do all this reset your ecu by either pulling the fuse for 5-10min or disconnect you negative battery cable.
Besides the 1st time they dynoed it the reading was 13hp and we all laughed and said no way. So Weapon R redynoed and it came out as a more reasonable number like 6.5 I believe.
even with a proper intake install, though high end power is noticable, at the start of the throttle, a bit of power seems to be lost anyway, anyone know what im talking about? seems like tq is sacraficed...can anyone fonfirm this? or know what im talking about?
do what toyota_scion_tc said. go back and recheck your work. it might just be the mass air flow sensor that threw the cel
zadra said he had a cel on. A cel doesn't just come b/c you have changed out an intake. Something was left unplugged, plugged in wrong, or left unplugged and then realized after the car was started. Try reseting your ecu. Make sure your car is up to operating temp first.
i got it on my car, works just fine, no cel. like everyone has been saying check your work. i love my intake, it sounds great and increased throttle response and pulls better up top. i got a 6whp gain on the dyno
well I checked my work, checked plugs and all that good stuff...BTW for you that do have a new intake did it give you a spot to re-mount that little cylinder with the vacuum hoses and green **** attached to it? I also reset my ecu and it did clear the "cel" but I still felt funny throttle response, and later that day it came back on......so I got really mad that I spent this money and just put the stock intake back on.....I may re-install it later on and carfully go over everything..Also with the stock intake back on everything was A-ok, not sure what went wrong
Oh and I got the weapon-R "secret weapon" intake does not look like toy, looks nice and sounded nice, the one that looks like a toy is the "dragon" intake by weapon-R
Thanx for the input guys!

and i dont know which cylinder you are talking about, i would need to see pix of it. there is a hose that connects from the header to the intake if thats what you are asking. but mines been on for a month or two and no CEL, car runs great
