pinging/ rough idle only when car is stopped
so about two months ago i had a misfire code on my xa and they replaced one of the coil just in case.
after that my car ran fine. about a month ago i started to get hard pinging/idle whenever i was stopped at a light. It only happens after the car has been running for about 20 minutes.
No matter what the temp is outside cold or hot.
i took the car in and they told me they couldn't find anything wrong so they just reprogramed the ECU.
The only thing they could think was cheap gas so they told me to go fill up on 93 octane and see if that would help.
I've been running the 93 octane and its still doing it.
I went ahead and cleaned the MAF sensor..and the car does run a tad better. but the car is still pinging/idling hard when stopped in traffic.
Any other ideas? thanks for any help

the idle speed is fine as far as i can tell.
i took it to the dealer again and they don't want to deal with it pretty much. they said that since their is no check engine light there's nothing they can do. they gave me a bottle of fuel system cleaner and sent me on my way.
i know for a fact that my car wasn't doing this 2 months ago.
gas milage has not been good either.

i shouldn't need my spark plugs replaced at 14,000 miles..
i've also noticed that my mpg has gone from about 30-31 mpg to 21. super crappy. i'm taking it in back tomorrow and speaking to the service manager. The car is under full warranty and shouldn't be pinging..lets see what he says..

ok so i took the car in today..they call me and tell me they can't anything wrong with it. and of course i flip. so i show up there to pick up the car and i go to drive off and i'm like WTF. don't you feel this hard idle? he's like thats normal. and i'm like noo ..its not. when i turn on the car or any car it doesn't vibrate thru the seat. nor can you feel the studdering vibration thru the door!!
so they talk and blah and they are like well we will order the idle control valve and replace it. so in other words they have no idea.
i'm gonna get that replaced and ask the reprogram the ECU and if that doesn't work i'm taking it to another dealer.

update: i took my car in to toyota of braintree (MA) and they checked-spark plugs n gaps, coils, ignition sys, ingectors, ecu.
they found everything to be ok. checked mass air meter and found it to be dirty with oil. he said the K&n drop in filter was prob the cause of that. so i paid $15 and put the stock air filter back in and he cleaned out the sensor.
its still idling a bit off but def feels better. i'll have to drive it around tomorrow and see.
i read up on the K&n filter n air flow sensor and it seems to sometimes happen. opinions on that topic?

Hmm... I have to call BS on the drop in K&N being the cause. I swear by K&N and they generally operate much better than any OEM filter you can find. The key to the K&N filters though, they must be cleaned with the charge type cleaner. I like to clean my air filter every time I do an oil change. Costs a little more but it breathes much better and runs better than stuff like the OEM or fram type. How long have you had the K&N drop in?
i've had it for maybe 5 months...i think its BS to but just to prove that it is the car and not any non oem part i'm gonna keep the stock filter to see if the problem persists.
