Default Rotrex Supercharger Kit 2.0 ?

Ok I know there was another thread about this about six months ago. But I would like to start up ther talk about it again. Only for those that want to see this kit made for the tC.. Companies want to make money. So if we show them they are losing out on ours, we could get them to make a kit for us.

you will never get them to make it its a lost cause like iraq its a money pit scs are hard on a car compared to a turbo the trd made a whopping 200whp if your lucky on like 7 pounds when turbo kits make 250-300 on the same boost

I wouldn't call superchargers worthless. Odds are that company would lose money on the R&D of a supercharger kit for the tC. Turbocharging is gaining popularity and therefore more people are going that route since there are more parts readily available for them.

the sc turbo battle continues. I'm not sure why people like the sc really. It takes more effort to maintain (the bearings go bad) and they make a whopping 200whp on a dynojet.

Some people just like SC better. and I have been in cars (not a tc ) that had SC that gave 100 hp over stock. So ther aren't a waste of money , that is why i would like to have this one built for us.

you cant compare a regular centrifugal supercharger to a rotrex

i think everyone needs to google rotrex superchargers before they throw superchargers under the bus

i wouldnt be interested in another centrifugal supercharger, but a rotrex SC or even a roots SC would be interesting to see!

but alas, no company is gonna spend a ton of money on a rotrex kit just to end up loosing, remember the tc is on its last run since the new replacement or whatever it is is gonna be out soon, so its pointless.....

It can be done..

I played with a unit last summer.

The costs is what makes it tough. Besides the units themselves. You have allot of time in custom bracketry etc. And if a company cannot make large production runs its hard to bring a kit to market at a competitive price.

Todd

i agree with chicotunner07 on the rotrex.

Rotrex makes quality and reliable supercharger kits and competes with top supercharger manufacturers. You can definitely expect greater output with the Rotrex comparing to the TRD.

It's all about preference. One might like the turbo pathway, others decide to go along the supercharger.

It's gonna be tough creating the Rotrex for the tC but it all depends if the cost is lower than the profit made from these.

i think it would be best for someone to try to adapt a rotrex supercharger to the trd SC kit, maybe reuse the pulley brackets and such and only make a custom shaft and supercharger side bracket, after all the rotrex is very similar in shape to a regular centrifugal supercharger

as you can see, it could be placed in the same place as the trd supercharger, with the exeption of making a custom bracket, and a custom shaft adapter!

it would be sweet!

I think that the warranty from Toyota was a big buying point. I know that is why I wanted one. But I don't think I will get one now since they are out of production.

I understand that a turbo will make more power, but it is front wheel drive, so I don't want 300hp, 220hp or so would be fine. I like the idea of a supercharger for the tC, but I don't know if anyone will make one, at least this year.

Look at the market fellas...

Its not supporting the 4500-5000.00 turbo kits in high volume.

You would have to be able to invest in high quantities to be able to bring a product like this to market to be under that price range.

And then after all that......you need buyers.

A few can be done....who wants one?

I can build you a kit.....but its not going to be cheap.

Which is why the particular customer that was really considering the Rotrex, decided upon turbo.

Regards-

Todd

yeah that is true.. it will never be cheap especially when you can get a new turbo kit for like 3K plus that makes more power.. many s/c though make good power, its just that trd made that weak s/c giving S/Cs a bad name lol.. anyways turbo ftw!

Rotrex is hotness fo' sho.

I don't understand why many of you hate on the supercharger. Unfortunately, you've all been exposed to the TRD variant, which is not a prime example. Of course it didn't make a ton of power. Do you really think Toyota would warranty a car that normally puts out 160hp when it's stressing the engine at 300hp?

My last ride was a Focus SVT. There were multiple supercharger kits available for it, both centrifugal and roots-style blowers. The SC'd Foci were actually FASTER than about 95% of the turbo'd Foci. In fact, a company in Florida was running 11's on a modified Vortech kit (by modified, I believe it had the blower ported and a smaller pulley). There were only 4 or 5 turbo'd Foci that could even come close to that, let alone beat it. BTW, I'm talking street-driven cars here, not trackers.

I don't think we'll see another SC kit for the tC, but it'd be cool to see regardless!

I think this could be feasible. Jackson racing does a kit for the Honda Fit for under $3K so this could certainly be a competitor to a turbo kit especially since there is already a ecu flash from the trd kit to go off of thus eliminating the cost of em.
