Kaminari CF Reverse Cowl Hood
A lot of people have said that for the Kaminari hoods you don't need to use hood pins/latches but then on the other hand people have said the opposite.
Any current/previous owners have any advice?!

I don't think I've honestly really seen anyone use hood pins on a kami hood. Most (if not all) of the ones I have seen no one is running them. It seems like it would say on the kaminari website or wherever else you are planning on buying from.
the hood is well built and the hood latch is built on honeycomb,a material for strength in CF and fiberglass builds,it is solid and the latch works fine just like metal hood,
If I was racing the car or taking it over 100mph regularly I would consider pins, but I plan on neither so I feel quite safe without.......jsut my opiniion.

Oh thanks guys. I've been talking to a lot of people recently about the kami hood and so far the majority said its made pretty damn good so hood pins arent mandatory. Now i can order the ____in thing.
Hey TheQuietThings did you have any problems with the install or through-out the life span of having the Kami hood?

Well, with the install I had to adjust the latch to sit a little lower since it wouldnt lock into the stock lock but it only took 2 mins to adjust. Throughout the life, I never once had a problem. This hood is the best hood anyone could buy for the tC. I wish they made one for the xD

kiss kiss kill..lol you know im just joking. I know thats your soft spot and you get ____ed when people say your ride is a trailer/show queen. Any who..I know how people say the hood is pretty solid but you never know, one day you can be driving at like 60 miles per hour and then BAM! there goes your window and 6 or 7 hundred dollar hood.
i just had a crash and my kaminari is cracked underneath all across from headlight to headlight.
i want to believe that the hood didnt damaged other than this because it was very well built....
btw my headlight is cracked inside and my driver fender is bent too... so im very lucky that the hood didnt damaged on the outside. ( no visible damage unless i open the hood

from the looks of ur hood looks great from impact i was amazed on how the hood looked and everything else was bent or cracked
^you guys! lol
what i can say is that i have a seibon hood that is half the weight of the oem hood, it shook on the highway, a little too much for my nerves, but the kami hood is HEAVY!!! i have never compared, but it must be as heavy, if not heavier then the oem hood, lol
i guess they used alot of extra fiberglass to compensate for strength
i say why risk it? 700 dollar hood plus windshield damage? its just one of those things that might or might not ever happen!
you dont have to get regular old tiny metal hood pins that protrude and look "ricer" you can get aerocatch latches or NRG Carbon fiber latches which look great, i have the aerocatch myself, and its one of the first things people notice and ask about! lol
