My moms automatic tC shifts hard from 1st to 2nd. Its only every now and then and only from a dead stop.
The car will rev up to around 3500-4000rpms and shift with a big jolt.

Anyone have this problem??? I should have mentioned it to to Toyota when I got the oil changed.

 

sounds like a bad tranny, might just need fluid or something. take it to the dealer.

 

I have the same thing happening with mine.. It normally occurs with me right after getting off of the highway headed to my house. I don't think that has anything to do with it though.

 

This started happening to me today too. I spilled some (actually half a cup) coffee all over my console today and I thought maybe the D and 3 were sticking or something, but that seems unlikely, especially now I see others are having this problem. Mine has only 1100 miles on it :/

 

some times the 1st to 2nd shift on my auto shifts a little hard and late..you can feel the tranny disengage but the shift is delayed more then normal, so the rpms rise and when it finally hits second gear it makes the car jolt forward. and i only notice it from a dead stop going around left turns

 

My manual shifts hard from 1st to 2nd with a loud knock. My bro's Mazda is the same way.

 

I have approximately 3500 miles on mine now.. I would say it started somewhere close to 2800.
