I have a ding on my hood the size of a dime, now.

I had a few small rock chips, no biggie. A little touch-up paint, and go.

Then the ding.

My question is, in your opinion, would I be better off getting a Carbon Fiber hood, or having my entire hood repainted?

I can't find any body shop willing to do a spot painting job, and with a silver car, it shows pretty badly.

If I put a Carbon Fiber hood, I intend to eventually get it painted to match the body, I just don't know when.

Opinions, flames?

 

you should the cf hood then spray it with a trans silver so you can see the pattern of the hood but have the silver color so it does not stand out so much, i saw it on a car once it look bad a$$

 

Heh heh... Kind of like CF body panels on a dark car with smoked paint over them? I've seen that look really good. I'm going for a kind of low-key look anyway.

 

i personally love carbon fiber as an accent on silver. It looks very nice especially when the car has dark wheels on it either gunmetal or black.

 

if you have CF, it woud look good if u showed it off

 

no flames, but a carbon fiber hood will look good.

 

Or you could get a silver carbon fiber hood...

repainting a hood may cost more then a carbon fiber hood. if you have plans for a carbon fiber hood then do that, but as Kreativeimport said, do what will make you happy. get both options priced out see where you end up. if you go the carbon fiber route, get a quality hood. bbist makes an extremely nice product for a fraction of what others cost for less qyality

 

yea, good advice..just do what makes you happy cuz its your car and your money. but i would get the cf since your already gonna do that. dont gotta pay for things twice. thats just my advice for the money side from things.

ive never been a fan of all that carbon fiber stuff (hoods, trucks, fenders) unless your building a race car and trying to save weight.. I do like carbon accents, but most carbon fiber just seems too ricey for me... just my .02

I'm still digging on the CF hood look, but I'm kind of torn between the 'kitted' look and the 'sleeper' look.

I got a good reference from my dealership... One of the guys there said that the body shop guy repaired curbage on his silver car's front bumper. He showed me the car, and it's nearly undetectable. I'll get a bid on that, then decide if I'm replacing the hood.

I orderd my Carbon Fiber Hood a couple days ago from Ebay...350.00 I cant wait to install it on my SSM TC

 

I think the black carbon fiber looks better on the tc then on any other car, because it blends in nicely with the black glass roof. And the kaminari hood is HOT!

 

I dont like Carbon Fiber hoods, looks cheap in my opinion, looks like the car isnt painted...go for the OEM repaint.

 

ScionBandit has a SSM with a CF hood. Looks hot. I think you should get one!
