Default 662 whp dyno @ 29.5 psi, jessicas 67mm tc again**crazy tourqe and curve**

So we hit the dyno last night, with GOOD news and BAD news, Ill get to the bad news on down.

We were taking the car on a 450 mile round trip drive the next day, so we werent going to tear out 4th again, or straight push everything too far.. I played with VVTi this time SO VERY lightly, and got the tune DANG NEAR PERFECT!! I ended our 29-29.5 psi runs at only 6000 rpm, with power climbing like crazy, and first pull in the higher boost range we did 655.9 WHP at 5939 RPMS. and right at 600 FT lbs of TOURQE.. LOL.. wait til you see the graph.. Id say boost would have went to 31-32 psi this run and made well over 700! you can see the graphs the power was climbing hard until I quit the run.. I just didnt want to risk anything at this time.. Ill post vids in a min. we ran again and made 662 whp with no vvti, and made alot less tourqe(about 55 less) ..

We ran 20 passes on this thing straight, it was so consistant it wasnt even funny!! I was very impressed.. We did 490 on the first pull at wastegate spring pressure, then dialed it up a little at a time, we ended up making 635 for our first 600+ run of the day at about 26 psi, then kept going little by little..

Well I figured the last run, dont pressure the RPM to high, and run 32 psi and a 35 shot to make something to talk about before we leave (it would have happened) well I turn on the bottle and let the car cool down, well get ready to get the spray working this run and turn the key and BOOM! The Nitrous selonoid was leaking due to a faulty selenoid, so for a VERY long amount of time the IC piping was filling full of nitrous, and it was a slow leak you couldnt hear.. Im talking this isnt your average nitrous explosion, Ive dealt with nitrous for many many years, I have had only 1 other selenoid stick on a big 200 shot on my supercharged srunner... Someone could have been seriously injured or killed last night, it exploded the whole intake, tore our the wiring harness under the intake! blew the IC coupling wide open in 2 spots on the cold piping, tore out the injector clips(ripped them in half) tore out sensors and harness's everywhere, blew the front bumper off. FLEXED THE FIREWALL SO MUCH THAT IT BLEW OUT THE HEATER HOUSING FAN ASSEMBLY UNDERNEATH THE DASH IN SIDE!!! I mean some serious stuff.. This is the maddest I have ever been, I just knew this had hurt the motor, bent valves, and a number of things. (I have actual pics of the damage Ill post soon) I mean this intake manifold is a composite material and is VERY strong, its in 1000's of peices, it blew the carbon fiber engine cover 100 ft high and snapped it as well.. I was so mad at the moment I was throwing things, but I calmed down and pulled the plugs, cut the fuel and cranked it, and WAM it cranks just fine.. I do a compression test on it that night on a cold motor 170 170 170 170 all the way across.. so far so good, Ive got it all disasembled and a huge list of parts.. I have to say, this is one heck of a motor.. OH yeah.. it bent the throttle body butterfly valve as well.

But I have alot of parts to get(new wire harness, couplers, aem pressure sensor, vaccum hoses everywhere, idle air control motor harness) O2 sensor harness, injector pigtails, intake manifold, throttle body, heater body assembly, other sensor connectors, IC upper piping, and a whole alot of other stuff!!)

That selenoid is in the river, I tested it and opened a bottle in the OFF position, and sure enough its not sealing!

But on the good note, cars doing very well, and will be up and running in a few days.. Its going to be very easy to hit 750+ in this car.. we now have over 6000 miles and more than 1/2 has been PURE HECK on the car.

DONT PAY ATTENTION TO THE GRAPH LAYOUTS JUST YET, THEY HAVENT BEEN CLIPPED CORRECTLY LIKE THE 617 RUN, SOME OF THE NEW GRAPHS SCALE AS LOW AS 2500 rpm, SO IT MAKES THE CURVE LOOK SHORT, JUST GO BY RPM UNTIL I HAVE THE CLIPPED GRAPHS!! THE NEW GRAPH WITH VVTI WAS LETTING OFF WAY EARLY, AND BUILDING ALOT OF POWER!!! THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE MONEY RUN FOR US!

wow thats a pretty strong explosion i imagine.. its good though that you still have that plastic IM, the shock would have been stronger on your motor. hopefully theres no major damage on critical parts

what sucks....is your next to race gas.....lol. so why did it explode? just way to much pressure in the intake manifold?

O and Very nice power! Ill be hitting the dyno very soon! Were trying to book it for next saturday! Im gonna test just my daily pump gas tune out.. so in a few more miles once its broke fully, upping the boost to 17-18 psi hopefully can get 400-425 ish out of it for daily driving!

VERY nice numbers and torque to go with it (reason why I love the 2az). Sorry about the carnage. You leaving the Nitrous alone now? I think you can break 700 without the nitrous (stuffs to finicky for my nerves). Would like to see some pics of the clearance with your turbo on the PTuning manifold.

Yeah get some pics. I would eventually down the road like to have a hot swappable BIG turbo (over the 3076r that I get from PTuning), for when I take the car to the drag strip and look for some 1/4 mile passes. And just use that one for the drag while having one for Time Attack/daily driving.

Wow, that is unbelievable! Good thing you are alright and no one got injured/killed! I think someone believed it happened there because it looks like there is a burn mark on one of the q16 containers lol. I never planned on going with nitrous, but I especially don't want to after seeing this carnage.

Dyno run looks great, especially the VVT run. It is amazing how much torque you picked up with just barely touching VVT-i. I would love to see that dyno to a 7500-8000 redline, would be great!

Didn't you do some transmission work? I.E. did some work to make it stronger. I know in another thread you said you did but didn't want to release any info on it until you thought it worked or something. I am guessing you also didn't want to push it since you had a long trip back and didn't want to risk anything happening with it.

Well, congrats on the numbers, and luckily nothing is too seriously wrong with the car. Can't wait to see here putting down 700+ (whp and torque if you get that VVT-I tuned well )!
